Rays | Matt Moore to start Saturday

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 12:44:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore is scheduled to make the start against the New York Yankees Saturday, Sept. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Moore should remain fairly cheap on FantasyScore for his start against the Yankees this weekend. You'll probably want to steer clear of him in his first start back in the majors, though, as the Bronx Bombers own the fourth-best OPS (.775) against southpaws in 2015.

Rays | Matt Moore likely back this weekend

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 05:46:49 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore is likely to return to the starting rotation this weekend against the New York Yankees. The team will add him sometime this week with expanded rosters.

Fantasy Tip: Give Moore a start to see if his refinements in Triple-A paid off before using him on FantasyScore.

Rays | Matt Moore optioned to Class AAA

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 11:26:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore was optioned to Class AAA Durham Monday, Aug. 3. The team also recalled 3B Richie Shaffer from Class AAA Durham.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has struggled since returning from his injury, so he will look to work on things in the minors. He could return when the rosters expand in September. Shaffer should see some playing time and could be an option in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Rays | Matt Moore to be sent down

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 18:23:23 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore will be optioned because the team plans to skip his next start as a result of how upcoming off days line up.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been brutal since returning from Tommy John surgery, and he owns an 8.78 ERA in six starts. It sounds like his demotion could be a temporary thing, but with Drew Smyly potentially returning soon, Moore could be given time to work things out in the minors.

Rays | Matt Moore logs first win since return

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 15:19:58 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore allowed three runs on five hits and struck out three in five innings in a win over the Houston Astros Sunday, July 12. It was his first win since returning from elbow surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the win, Moore ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) still owns a 7.07 ERA in three starts since his return. He is worth stashing in seasonal leagues if he is available, but give him some more time to round into form before using him at FantasyScore.

Rays | Matt Moore, Matt Andriese pitching Tuesday

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 16:27:58 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SPs Matt Moore and Matt Andriese will pitch in the doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, July 7. Moore will pitch in the first game and Andriese will go in Game 2.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is once again a risky pitcher on FantasyScore tomorrow against the Royals, a team that strikes out rarely. Moore allowed four earned runs and walked two in 4 2/3 innings in his first start of the season last week. Andriese won't be available to use in the second game.

Rays | Matt Moore rusty in first start back

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 16:41:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) showed his rust against the Cleveland Indians in his first start of the season Thursday, July 2, throwing three wild pitches and allowed four runs, six hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision. "I thought there might have been more nervous body-control type issues, but really it felt normal," said Moore, who threw 81 pitches in his first outing against major-league hitters in 451 days.

Fantasy Tip: The outing showed exactly why we said it was too risky to bet on Moore ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in his first start back in over a year. You may want to play it safe and avoid him in his next start, too, depending on the opponent. The poor command is just a reminder that many starters struggle with location in their return from Tommy John surgery.

Rays | Matt Moore activated from DL

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 09:06:09 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) was activated from the disabled list Thursday, July 2, to face the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is at a cheap price if you want to risk it, but it's his first start in a year due to Tommy John surgery. We'd avoid him on FantasyScore for a start or two.

Rays | Matt Moore says he is ready for Thursday

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 13:53:02 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) threw a bullpen session Monday, June 29, and said he is "definitely ready to go" for his start Thursday, July 2.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) should be owned in all seasonal formats, but for his season debut, he is a high-risk, high-reward start, especially at FantasyScore. Be patient as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery at the highest level and expect a few peaks and valleys.

Rays | Matt Moore set for Wednesday start

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 05:55:00 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) is expected to return to the rotation and pitch against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, Moore should be owned in all seasonal formats. There may be a little inconsistency, both during outings and from start to start. However, his career 8.8 K/9 mark is worth targeting. You'll likely also want to be patient with him at FantasyScore initially.
