Rays | Matt Moore tosses successful session

Wed, 20 May 2015 15:32:39 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore's (elbow) bullpen session went well Wednesday, May 20, according to manager Kevin Cash. Moore is likely to pitch an extended spring training game Saturday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Seasonal owners in need of a rotation boost should check Moore's availability. He is worth stashing in the majority of formats at this point. There is still no official word on his return timetable, but joining the starting staff before July seems likely, barring any setbacks. Continue to check back for updates.

Rays | Matt Moore throws sim game

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:02:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow), who is on schedule in his recovery from Tommy John surgery in April of last year, threw 31 pitches in a successful simulated game Monday, May 18, at extended spring training. However, there is no timetable for Moore's return to the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Moore figures to immediately rejoin Tampa's rotation when he's ready, possibly sometime next month. He could provide immediately relief to a fantasy pitching staff, but beware that he could struggle with velocity and command in the early going. Stash him now in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if you have the room.

Rays | Matt Moore to throw BP Thursday

Mon, 04 May 2015 09:11:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) will throw live batting practice again Thursday, May 7, after using fastballs, curve balls and changeups in a 25-pitch session Sunday, May 3.

Fantasy Tip: Moore is recovering from Tommy John surgery and slowly working his way back. He could be a rotation option for the Rays in another couple of weeks. If he's on the waiver wire in your league, you should definitely consider stashing him now. Holding off on using him at FantasyScore would be wise for at least his first several starts upon his return.

Rays | Matt Moore to face hitters Sunday

Sat, 02 May 2015 10:36:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) is scheduled to face live hitters Sunday, May 3, for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery. After throwing three batting practice or simulated game sessions, he will probably be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. Moore is hoping to make no more than four rehab starts before being activated from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: If all goes well, Moore could resume pitching in the majors by the middle of June. He's worthy of being stashed in most fantasy baseball formats so if he's available in the free-agent pool of your league, grab him.

Rays | Matt Moore continues to progress

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 13:02:16 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) said things are going really well with his recovery from Tommy John surgery Thursday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: Moore is still a long way from helping fantasy owners. Still, he is worth stashing in the majority of formats, as he projects to return around the All-Star break. Continue to check back for updates on his recovery and a timeline for his return. It isn't always a smooth transition back to the mound after Tommy John surgery, though. So keep your expectations in check.
