Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said in an interview that the team may still move CB Ronde Barber to safety. "If we need to make a move to pull (Barber) back from safety to corner, we can do that in a heartbeat," Dominik said when asked about the possibility of losing CB Aqib Talib following his trial on assault charges in June.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Ronde Barber said Friday, April 13, that the team "probably will" select Louisiana State CB Morris Claiborne with the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft. "I haven't watched any film of him. I don't know how he plays or anything," Barber said. "He was actually in our (secondary) room. They did those little unofficial visits or whatever. He's a good kid. He looks good. He looks the part. Everybody's high on him."

"I would be lying if I didn't say that," Barber said when asked if his future was linked to Morris'. "That's somewhat true. But we'll see. Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Ronde Barber said Sunday, Dec. 19, that he is leaning towards returning in 2011, reports Scott Reynolds, of PewterReport.com. "Well, let me answer this the correct way," Barber said. "The situation is not just a 'Do I want to come back next year?' type of situation. It's just not. There are plenty of factors involved. Do they want me back? Will I be motivated in the offseason to come back? Will Raheem [Morris] want me to come back? Am I in [defensive backs coach] Jimmy Lake's plans to come back? There is more than just one factor."

There has been speculation that the team will fire Morris after his first season as the head coach. "Yes, there's always a chance," Barber said. "There's been a chance since 2005, really. I'm a re-evaluator every year at this point in my career. You have to be, really. If it's still the right situation for me, I'll be here. If not, I won't."

CB Ronde Barber would likely see more action against Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith if Talib is unable to start. The team would also ask CBs Elbert Mack, Derrick Roberson and Brandon Anderson to fill the void. They are unlikely to move FS Tanard Jackson to cornerback.

"We want to be an example to other alumni to participate in this campaign," said Ronde Barber. " We want to emphasize that now is the time for our fellow alumni to join us. The deal could be worth as much as $24 million if incentives are reached and includes $6 million in bonuses in each of the next two years.
