Braves | Julio Teheran to stay put

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 12:49:41 -0800

The Atlanta Braves don't plan on trading SP Julio Teheran this offseason, and they would like him to serve as the anchor for their pitching staff.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran was disappointing for his owners in 2015, sporting a 4.04 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 33 starts (200 2/3 innings). He'll be a tough sell in 2016, especially if he remains on a poor offensive club in Atlanta. There's room for growth, though, so he's worth a low-cost investment in the later rounds of drafts.

Diamondbacks | Arizona eyeing Atlanta arms

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 14:19:27 -0800

Atlanta Braves SPs Shelby Miller and Julio Teheran are involved in on-going negotiations to be traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran and Miller are generating plenty of interest this offseason, and both pitchers are strong young hurlers who would likely benefit from a relocation, especially in the win column. Miller posted a 3.02 ERA over 33 starts last season, and while Teheran had a 4.04 ERA last year, he registered a 3.03 mark from 2013-2014 through 63 starts. Continue to check back for updates.

Braves | Atlanta keen on adding Jorge Soler

Tue, 01 Dec 2015 10:42:09 -0800

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler is of trade interest to the Atlanta Braves, according to sources. While it is believed SP Julio Teheran would not be enough for Chicago to pull the trigger, SP Shelby Miller is a potential trade piece to complete the deal.

Fantasy Tip: Miller is coming off a fantastic season where his lack of run support held him to six wins despite a 3.02 ERA. In fact, Miller went 24 consecutive starts without recording a victory. Expect a solid four-category return from Miller in 2016, especially in a new location. Soler struggled with injuries and inconsistency in 2015, but the raw talent at the dish is obvious, and there is significant upside in the power categories with the outfielder. Stay tuned, but note, Soler's fantasy stock would likely take a hit joining a new team.

Cubs | Chicago interested in Braves starters

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 12:58:45 -0800

Atlanta Braves SPs Shelby Miller and Julio Teheran are of interest to the Chicago Cubs, and Chicago has been involved in trade negotiations with Atlanta. The Braves are believed to be looking for young position players in return for one of their pitchers, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Both Miller and Teheran are excellent young arms who would see an uptick in wins pitching for a better ball club. However, Wrigley Field isn't as pitcher-friendly as Turner Field, so expecting huge gains in the ratios would be ill-advised. As it stands, Teheran and Miller are mid-round targets in seasonal drafts. Stay tuned for updates.

Braves | Freddie Freeman being shopped

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 10:37:49 -0800

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman is being shopped this offseason, according to sources from three different teams. One source said discussions were "the talk of the (Arizona) Fall League" this month. Freeman hit .276 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI in 118 games in 2015 and is signed through 2021 and is owed $118.5 million over those six years. The Braves are also considering trading SP Julio Teheran and OFs Nick Markakis and Cameron Maybin as they look to rebuild.

Fantasy Tip: The Braves traded defensive specialist Andrelton Simmons last week and are clearly looking to rebuild. Freeman is their best player remaining, and he easily has 20-plus home run power over a full season. A move out of Atlanta would likely boost his fantasy value even further.

Braves | Julio Teheran finishes on a high note

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 20:22:36 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed five hits and struck out six over six scoreless innings in a win over the St. Louis Cardinals Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) was inconsistent most of the year, but he posted a 1.62 ERA over his final six starts. At just 24 years old, he still has plenty of time to put it all together, and he is a nice breakout candidate for 2016.

Braves | Julio Teheran pitches a gem

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 20:26:16 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran was perfect through six innings, allowing five hits and one run and striking out eight over 8 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) has been excellent at home all year, and while he makes a great value play at FantasyScore when he takes the mound at Turner Field, he should be avoided entirely when he starts on the road.

Braves | Julio Teheran earns win Wednesday

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 19:17:01 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran (10-7) allowed one run on four hits over seven innings in a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, Sept. 9, with two walks and four strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) tossed his seventh quality start in his last eight outings and improved to 4-1 over that stretch. He will make his next start Tuesday, Sept. 15, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Braves | Julio Teheran looks to top Philly

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 22:49:35 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran is scheduled to face the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, Sept. 9. He is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in two outings against the Phillies this season.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) might have strong numbers against the Phillies, but they're playing much better lately, the Braves are playing worse and Teheran has been money at home and terrible on the road. FantasyScore players likely want to avoid Teheran.

Braves | Julio Teheran stays hot at home

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 22:48:08 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed three earned runs, four hits and a walk over 7 1/3 innings in a win Monday, Aug. 24, against the Colorado Rockies. He also struck out five in the quality start.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) is 7-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 13 home starts this season with 75 strikeouts over 84 2/3 innings at Turner Field this season. When he is home, he is a slam-dunk play in FantasyScore.
