Chicago White Sox SPs Chris Sale, John Danks, Hector Santiago and Jose Quintana are now scheduled to face the Houston Astros from Friday, June 14, through Monday, June 17. The club's game on Wednesday, June 12, against the Toronto Blue Jays was postponed, and the White Sox have off on Thursday, June 13, so they have elected to skip SP Dylan Axelrod.
Fantasy Tip: The ChiSox may just be taking advantage of the chance to give Axelrod some extra rest after he was thrashed in his start on Monday. Perhaps Santiago has a legit chance to move ahead of Axelrod in the pecking order now, although that's of little importance for the foreseeable future.

Chicago White Sox SP John Danks (shoulder) will come off the 15-day disabled list to make his first start in more than a year against the Miami Marlins Friday, May 24. Danks had surgery last August to fix his rotator cuff and biceps. He made four rehab starts in the minors, and manager Robin Ventura will let Danks go deep into the game if he can. The team will decide in the next few days whether to remove SPs Dylan Axelrod or Hector Santiago from the rotation to make room for Danks. RP Donnie Veal was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte to make room on the roster.
Fantasy Tip: His first start couldn't come against a better team for owners looking for at least a spot start. Relying on Danks full time, at least initially, might be a mistake, though, unless you're in an AL-only league. If he proves that his dive last season was purely injury-related, he might be worth stashing in deep mixed leagues.

Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura indicated that SP Dylan Axelrod won't just receive one or two starts as the fifth starter to open the year, but he'll receive a chance to prove himself.
Fantasy Tip: Axelrod has been shuttled back and forth between the rotation and bullpen often, so expect inconsistent results. He's best left for owners in AL leagues.

Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura officially named SP Dylan Axelrod as the team's fifth starter, taking over for the injured SP John Danks (shoulder). Ventura wants Axelrod to pitch free and easy. "I don't want him throwing every pitch thinking this is going to cost him next week or the next five days," Ventura said. "Let him go out and pitch and figure it out after." Pitching coach Don Cooper wants Axelrod to throw in the 90-pitch range in one of the road exhibition games against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park Friday, March 29, or Saturday, March 30.

The Chicago White Sox will use SP Dylan Axelrod as a replacement in the rotation for SP John Danks (shoulder), as he started the season on the 15-day disabled list while building strength in his shoulder. The team plans to look outside of the organization for rotation help, however.
Fantasy Tip: Axelrod is only worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy formats, and he would not even be worth consideration then if the team finds another option to plug in.

Chicago White Sox SP John Danks (shoulder) is expected to begin the season on the disabled list, which will open up a spot in the rotation for SP Dylan Axelrod.
Wed, 20 Mar 2013 12:36:54 -0700
Chicago White Sox SP Dylan Axelrod will start the year in the team's starting rotation.
Fantasy Tip: He's worth a dart throw in AL-only formats now that he has a rotation spot, but you might have to deal with growing pains along the way.
Wed, 20 Mar 2013 10:26:02 -0700
Chicago White Sox SP John Danks (shoulder) allowed 10 runs and 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings Tuesday, March 19, and the team is unsure if he's ready to pitch when the regular season starts April 1. SPs Hector Santiago and Dylan Axelrod are the two options to replace Danks in the rotation if he has to start on the disabled list. Danks has given up 21 runs in 10 spring innings.
Fantasy Tip: Danks doesn't look right after undergoing arthroscopic left shoulder surgery last August. It's probably safe to wait and see with the southpaw before trusting him with a roster spot in your fantasy rotation.
