The Oakland Athletics recalled Ps Jarrod Parker and Jim Miller from the minors Wednesday, April 25, and designated P Rich Thompson for assignment and optioned RP Fautino De Los Santos to the minors in corresponding moves.

Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin expects RP Fautino De Los Santos to have a larger role in the backend of the bullpen this year. De Los Santos needs to develop his slider, cut down on the walks and hold runners on base better. RP Jordan Norberto could win a spot in the bullpen this spring as well.

Oakland Athletics assistant general manager David Forst said Wednesday, Dec. 28, that RPs Grant Balfour, Fautino De Los Santos and Joey Devine are all candidates for the closer's job following the trade of RP Andrew Bailey to the Boston Red Sox.
