The Los Angeles Dodgers added P Mike Antonini, OF Alex Castellanos, P Stephen Fife, RP Josh Wall and P Chris Withrow to the 40-man roster and outrighted P Carlos Monasterios and SP John Ely to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Dodgers | Nathan Eovaldi heading to bullpen

Updating a previous item, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Nathan Eovaldi will make one more start and then head to the bullpen as the team tries to limit his innings pitched. His last start will come Friday, Sept. 2, against the Atlanta Braves. The logical choice to replace him in the rotation would be P John Ely. Ps Dana Eveland and Randy Keisler are other options.

Dodgers | Nathan Eovaldi may hit innings limit

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Nathan Eovaldi likely won't make it to the end of the season before he reaches his innings limit, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said before the game Friday, Aug. 12. Eovaldi has about 30-35 innings remaining before the team will move him out of the rotation. Mattingly said it's likely Eovaldi will be replaced by John Ely.

Los Angeles Dodgers P John Ely is expected to be optioned to the minor leagues to make room on the 25-man roster for SP Nathan Eovaldi, who will be recalled from Double-A Chattanooga to start against the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday, Aug. 6.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said SP John Ely isn't a lock to enter the rotation after it was announced that SP Rubby De La Rosa (elbow) will need Tommy John surgery. Ely will start in the bullpen and could serve as a long reliever. The team won't need a fifth starter again until Tuesday, Aug. 9.
