Indians | Carlos Carrasco out four to six weeks

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:02:45 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring Monday, April 25. He is expected to miss four to six weeks with the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Stash Carrasco in all fantasy formats, as the budding fantasy ace flashed his upside with a 3.21 ERA with 165 strikeouts through 140 1/3 innings over his final 22 starts last season while holding opposing hitters to a .214/.266/.347 slash line. Trevor Bauer is expected to enter the rotation in Carrasco's absence, and Bauer is worth an add in deep mixed leagues given his strikeout upside. Bauer has an 8.6 K/9 during his five-year career.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco may head for DL

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 13:46:42 -0700

Updating a previous item, the Cleveland Indians have sent SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) back to Cleveland for an MRI. It appears he will go on the 15-day disabled list, although that has not been confirmed.

Fantasy Tip: The Indians may not need a fifth starter until early May, so they may go with a four-man rotation. As a previous tip indicated, Trevor Bauer could see more playing action, but T.J. House and Michael Clevinger could be in for more work as well.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco leaves game

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 12:17:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) left his start early Sunday, April 24, because of a left hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for an update on Carrasco's status in the next day or so. Carrasco could miss at least one start because of the injury, so owners should have other options ready to use. Trevor Bauer would see more work if Carrasco is sidelined and could be used in deeper mixed leagues. T.J. House and Michael Clevinger could also be starting options and would be AL-only options.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco shakes off ankle

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 21:36:47 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (ankle) twisted his ankle covering first base in the third inning of the game Tuesday, April 19, against the Seattle Mariners. He stayed in the game and ended up allowing just one run over 6 1/3 innings with four hits and three walks allowed while striking out five. "I tweaked it a little bit but it didn't bother me," Carrasco said. "I tape my ankles before every game. Everything was fine."

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco powered through the minor injury and appears to be fine for his next scheduled start and beyond. He remains a solid fantasy play for his high strikeouts per nine innings ratio.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco defeats Tampa Bay

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 19:04:02 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (1-0) allowed one run on four hits over eight innings in a victory over the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday, April 13, with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco has struck out at least five batters in each of his last 20 starts, which is the second-longest streak in franchise history. He is scheduled to make his next start versus the Seattle Mariners Tuesday, April 19, and should be viewed as a solid pitching option in both daily and seasonal fantasy formats.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco being eased in

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 14:28:51 -0800

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco's throwing schedule has been different than the other pitchers in camp the last few weeks, and manager Terry Francona said the team is taking a conservative approach with Carrasco's workload. He's scheduled to throw a bullpen Friday, March 4, and make his first spring start Sunday, March 6. Carrasco had a career-high 182 2/3 innings in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco is a strong SP2 in fantasy after he made the jump in 2015. He's a ground-ball guy with a nice strikeout rate, and his control is becoming elite.

Dodgers | Rotation is still a priority for Dodgers

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 13:49:47 -0800

Cleveland Indians SPs Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar, and Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi are trade targets currently involved in ongoing negotiations to be dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Los Angeles rotation is in need of a No. 2 after the departure of Zack Grienke this offseason. Heading to the National League would be a fantasy boon for any of the trio of American League starters, so stay tuned for updates on what develops from the Dodger's trade talks.

Cubs | Three starters on Cubs' radar

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 10:39:16 -0800

San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross, Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar and Indians SP Carlos Carrasco are pitchers the Chicago Cubs have had trade talks about, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The latter two would receive fantasy value boosts with a move to the NL. Ross could lose some luster if he left Petco Park, but all three would be viable SP2 or SP3 options in mixed leagues.

Astros | Houston looking at Carlos Carrasco

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 10:13:16 -0800

The Houston Astros are one of a handful of teams that have checked in on Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco had an eye-popping 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings last year and is emerging as one of the more underrated fantasy pitchers for the Tribe. He makes for an excellent No. 2 fantasy starter regardless of where he's pitching in 2016.

Indians | Danny Salazar, Carlos Carrasco on the move?

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 11:50:43 -0800

The Cleveland Indians are discussing SPs Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar in trade talks with teams, and the Arizona Diamondbacks may be the best fit. However, no trades are close on either pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: Both Carrasco and Salazar are improving young pitchers with plenty of fantasy appeal, mainly for their swing-and-miss stuff. We see it as unlikely that the Tribe would deal any of them, but they're both not likely to see their fantasy values affected all that much if they leave Cleveland.
