Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco lasted 5 2/3 innings in his recent minor league spring game start Tuesday, March 24, striking out 10 batters with only one hit allowed. He also was hitting between 95-97 mph with his fastball.
Fantasy Tip: Carrasco appears to be a lot more confident, and noted his location and array of pitches were all going well. He could be a nice rebound fantasy candidate if he can pick up where he left off at the end of last season.

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco, who was one of the most dominant pitchers in the league down the stretch last year (1.30 ERA with 78 walks and 11 K's in 69 innings), used his slider much more last season. The slider re-emerged when Carrasco was banished to the bullpen last year. He had thrown it just 12.7% of the time in April, but it went up to 19.8% in May, 25% in June and 21.2% in August and 29.4% in September. "When he came back from surgery (in '13), the slider wasn't quite the same as it was before, so he stayed away from it more than he had in the past," pitching coach Mickey Callaway said. "Last year, he really found that slider again -- that power slider where he really trusted that it was going to get down and away."
Fantasy Tip: As Castrovince mentions in his piece, Carrasco is set up to be the team's next pitching star beside Corey Kluber. You have to love the way Carrasco finished up his 2014 campaign. If he can carry that momentum into this season, he'll be one of the best value picks late in drafts, and he could be the X-factor for your fantasy pitching staff.

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco warmed up only five minutes before his start Wednesday, Sept. 17, before throwing the first two-hit shutout of his career while striking out 12. It has become his new approach before games, avoiding long bullpen sessions before he takes the mound. Carrasco learned how to get warm quickly after spending three months as a reliever, and he's 5-1 with a 1.17 ERA in eight starts since rejoining the rotation in August.

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco will start Sunday, Aug. 10, against the New York Yankees.
Fantasy Tip: Carrasco has only started four games this season. He is winless and has a 6.95 ERA as a starter. Starting Carrasco Sunday is unadvised.
