Washington Nationals OFs Roger Bernadina and Xavier Nady will platoon in left field with OF Jayson Werth (wrist) out, and INF Steve Lombardozzi won't play much of a factor. 1B Chad Tracy is unlikely to come into the picture in the outfield, either.

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (wrist) will miss at least six weeks after breaking his left wrist Sunday, May 6. It's the same wrist he broke while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005. The team will platoon OFs Xavier Nady and Roger Bernadina in left field in the meantime, with OF Bryce Harper in right field. OFs Steve Lombardozzi and Chad Tracy could also see time in left.

The Washington Nationals aren't interested in trading OF Roger Bernadina with OF Mike Morse (lat) on the disabled list, but Bernadina is expected to become available when Morse returns and if OF Bryce Harper is called up.

With Washington Nationals OF Rick Ankiel back from the disabled list, manager Davey Johnson indicated that SS Steve Lombardozzi is out of the possible outfield rotation. OFs Roger Bernadina, Mark DeRosa and Xavier Nady have all been sharing time in left field.

Washington Nationals SS Ian Desmond is taking his first day off of the season Thursday, April 19, with INF Steve Lombardozzi starting in his place. OF Roger Bernadina is starting for the second straight day in left field.

Washington Nationals OF Rick Ankiel (quadriceps) will be activated from the disabled list Saturday, April 14, where he will become the starting center fielder over OF Roger Bernadina. "He's in great shape," manager Davey Johnson said. "He had a great rehab program. Did awfully well. He's still fine. He had a great workout with the boys. He looks good to go." OFs Steve Lombardozzi and Brett Carroll are candidates to be sent down. Johnson plans to play Ankiel on an everyday basis. It's unlikely that OF Mark DeRosa will play much at first base with Bernadina moving to left field.

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals OF Roger Bernadina (knee) left the game with a bruised right knee Monday, April 2. He was hit in the knee by an errant pickoff throw in the first inning.
