Confirming a previous report, the Washington Nationals have placed OF Bryce Harper (knee) on the 15-day disabled list because of bursitis in his left knee. The move is retroactive to May 27, meaning that Harper is eligible to be activated June 11. In a corresponding move, RP Erik Davis has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.
Fantasy Tip: With Tyler Moore and Roger Bernadina off to slow starts, the Nats will suffer a significant decrease in offensive production from their outfield during Harper's absence (although Jayson Werth could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Tuesday, June 4). The team is optimistic that Harper will be ready to go as soon as he is eligible to return.

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper (knee) is likely to be placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, June 1, according to a source with knowledge of the decision. They'll likely replace Harper on the roster with RP Erik Davis, whom they called up Friday, May 31. Washington hoped Harper would avoid the DL, but the swelling and inflammation in his left knee hasn't improved as quickly as they'd hoped.
Fantasy Tip: The Nats can back-date the move to Monday, May 27, but they'll probably still be cautious with Harper, especially since Jayson Werth (hamstring) may return on Tuesday. Roger Bernadina and Tyler Moore (versus southpaws) should split time in the outfield and will offer only erratic NL-only aid until Werth and Harper return. When Steve Lombardozzi isn't playing second base, he'll catch flies, as well.

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said OF Bryce Harper (knee) isn't available to play this weekend, and the disabled list is becoming a possibility for him.
Fantasy Tip: That's the last thing Harper owners want to hear. His knee just hasn't responded to treatment, and he's still hobbling around on it. The Nats will be cautious with their stud outfielder, even if that means sitting him out for another two weeks. Roger Bernadina will benefit from extra at-bats in the short-term and is an option for very deep mixed leaguers if Harper hits the DL.
