San Diego Padres manager Bud Black said Dr. Lewis Yocum, the surgeon that performed SP Cory Luebke's (elbow) reconstructive surgery, told team doctors that Luebke made the right decision to have surgery because his ulnar collateral ligament was damaged. Luebke also considered rehabbing the injury to try to return later in the season but he thought he would take too long.

San Diego Padres SP Cory Luebke (elbow) is scheduled to have reconstructive surgery on his elbow Wednesday, May 23. Luebke hopes to be pitching again by April or May next season and understands he likely will be on a pitching limit in 2013.

The San Diego Padres recalled PR Matt Palmer from the minors Sunday, May 20, and optioned P Nick Vincent in a corresponding move. Also, SP Cory Luebke (elbow) was moved to the 60-day disabled list.

San Diego Padres SP Cory Luebke (elbow) is deciding what his next step will be after having Dr. Lewis Yocum look at his left elbow. He has been diagnosed with a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament. His two options are rehab or Tommy John surgery.

San Diego Padres SP Cory Luebke (elbow) is expected to seek a second opinion on his elbow injury this week. He went on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, May 2, retroactive to April 28, due to a strained left elbow.

San Diego Padres SP Cory Luebke (elbow) may need surgery on his left elbow after an MRI exam showed damage to his flexor tendon and the ligament that is associated with Tommy John surgery. "The MRI showed some fluid and damage in the elbow," Luebke said. "But I think it's best for the club to say anything else. I'm going to wait some time here and get a second opinion."

The San Diego Padres placed SP Cory Luebke (elbow) on the 15-day day disabled list with a sore left elbow Wednesday, May 2, as a precautionary move. The DL stint is retroactive to April 28.

San Diego Padres SP Cory Luebke (elbow) will miss at least his next start with elbow tightness and soreness. He noticed the tightness in his last start Friday, April 27. There has been no mention of placing Luebke on the disabled list.
