The Tampa Bay Rays signed free-agent 1B Juan Miranda (Diamondbacks), INF Matt Mangini (Mariners) and P Ricky Orta (Rays) to minor league deals with invitations to spring training Tuesday, Dec. 6.

The Seattle Mariners released IF Matt Mangini from Triple-A Tacoma Tuesday, Aug. 23 to make room for SP Anthony Vasquez on the 40-man roster.

The Seattle Mariners agreed to deals for the 2011 season with P Doug Fister, P Jose Flores, P Cesar Jimenez, P Josh Lueke, P Yorvis Medina, P Edward Paredes, P Michael Pineda, P Mauricio Robles, P Chaz Roe, P Tom Wilhelmsen, IF Alex Liddi, IF Matt Mangini, 1B Justin Smoak, OF Matt Tuiasosopo, OF Johermyn Chavez and OF Carlos Peguero Monday, Feb. 21, according to MLB.com's Greg Johns. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Seattle Mariners 3B Jose Lopez (finger) is unlikely to play again this year after dislocating the middle finger on his right hand Tuesday, Sept. 28, according to MLB.com's Jim Street. "They got it back in and there is no other damage," interim manager Daren Brown said after the Mariners' 3-1 victory over the Rangers. "He'll be sore and I don't see him being able to throw for the next five days, but he might be able to swing the bat in a couple of days." 3B Matt Tuiasosopo and IF Matt Mangini are expected to share the position for the final days of the season.

Seattle Mariners OF Greg Halman and 3B Matt Mangini made their major league debuts Thursday, Sept. 23, according to MLB.com's James Hall. Mangini is hitting seventh in the designated hitter spot and Halman hit eighth and played center field.

The Seattle Mariners recalled 1B Mike Carp, 3B Matt Mangini, OF Greg Halman and P Anthony Varvaro from Triple-A Tacoma Wednesday, Sept. 22, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer's Todd Dybas. Mangini and Carp are logical choices to replace 3B Jose Lopez and 1B Casey Kotchman as the season winds down.
