Rockies | Ryan Raburn in starting lineup

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 11:14:03 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ryan Raburn will start in left field and is batting sixth against Atlanta Braves SP Tyrell Jenkins Sunday, July 24. OF Daniel Descalso is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Raburn has gone hitless in his last seven games and is hitting only .138 in July. Owners in most leagues should be able to avoid Raburn until he produces at the plate again.

Rockies | Nolan Arenado, Mark Reynolds out

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 14:00:45 -0700

Colorado Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 21. SS Cristhian Adames is starting at third base and is hitting eighth, while 2B Daniel Descalso is at first base and batting fifth against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz.

Fantasy Tip: Arenado and Reynolds are likely just seeing normal days off. Adames has no business being in any fantasy lineup with a .200/.304/.290 slash line in 100 at-bats. Descalso, on the other hand, is having a fine season in a utility role with a .346 average, two homers and 19 RBI. The average is likely to come down, though, and he doesn't have much power that plays in daily formats.

Rockies | Daniel Descalso starting in left field

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 09:26:20 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Daniel Descalso is starting in left field and batting sixth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Wednesday, July 20. OF Ryan Raburn is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso and Raburn have been platooning in left field, but Decalso has been the much better fantasy contributor with a .338/.435/.481 slash line through 92 plate appearances this season. In cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, he's a viable option to plug in your lineups when he's starting. Gerardo Parra's return will next to quash any legitimate fantasy value, though.

Rockies | Trevor Story not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 07:55:00 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story, 1B Mark Reynolds, OF Ryan Raburn and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran Sunday, July 17. INF Daniel Descalso will play first base and bat fifth, INF Cristhian Adames will start at shortstop and bat sixth, OF Brandon Barnes will hit seventh and play left field and C Tony Walters will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Of the four replacements in Sunday's lineup, Descalso has been the most productive at the plate this season, batting .333 with two home runs and 18 RBI through 72 at-bats. Adams, Barnes and Wolters should be viewed as nothing more than inexpensive fliers in DFS.

Rockies | Ryan Raburn earns a start

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 13:48:52 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ryan Raburn is in the lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz on Saturday, July 16, batting sixth and playing left field in favor of INF/OF Daniel Descalso.

Fantasy Tip: Foltynewicz is coming off a career-high 10 strikeout performance and may be the best fantasy play of the two, although he is far from a recommended fantasy start after the Rockies scored 11 runs Friday. Raburn might be getting the nod today after last night's pinch-hit grand slam in the ninth inning, but he has struggled for most of the season and generally hit southpaws much better than right-handers throughout his career.

Rockies | Daniel Descalso sitting out

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 11:46:42 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B Daniel Descalso is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Zach Eflin Sunday, July 10. OF Brandon Barnes will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes is hitting only .214 with two RBI over the last seven days and is not a great fantasy option for owners.

Rockies | Daniel Descalso starting vs. Phils

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 13:44:34 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B Daniel Descalso is starting in left field and is batting sixth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velazquez Friday, July 8. OF Brandon Barnes will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: The utility infielder Descalso has had a hot run at the plate of late that has earned him more playing time. That certainly won't last, though, as he owns a career slash line of .243/.315/.346 in seven years. Descalso is taking hacks at Coors Field tonight, but he remains more of a deep sleeper in DFS.

Rockies | Mark Reynolds, Nick Hundley resting

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 16:23:11 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 6. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at first base and hitting sixth, while C Tony Wolters is behind the plate and batting eighth against San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto.

Fantasy Tip: Both Descalso and Wolters are deep sleepers, at best, in DFS games tonight. Descalso has been hot of late and is hitting .377 (23-for-61) with two homers and 17 RBI on the year, but his offensive ceiling is limited. Wolters has an ugly .211/.297/.316 line with a long ball and 15 RBI.

Rockies | Three Colorado starters not playing

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 12:33:42 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story (finger), OF Ryan Raburn and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brandon McCarthy Sunday, July 3. 2B Daniel Descalso will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Cristhian Adames will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while OF Brandon Barnes will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso is hitting .385 with four RBI over the last seven days and could be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Barnes is also an option for owners because he has played well over the last week. Adames can be avoided in most leagues.

Rockies | Trevor Story, DJ LeMahieu resting

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 15:52:36 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story and 2B DJ LeMahieu are not in the starting lineup Friday, July 1. SS Cristhian Adames is starting at the 6 and is hitting second, while 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at second base and batting sixth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Bud Norris.

Fantasy Tip: Adames and Descalso don't have much offensive upside, but Descalso has been hot of late and is hitting .385 on the season in limited opportunities. Both are nothing more than deep sleepers in DFS formats, though. Story and LeMahieu both dealt with nagging injuries earlier this week and could still be bothered by them. Check back for updates on their status moving forward.
