New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) visited the team and took swings Saturday, July 23. It was the first time he swung a bat since being placed on the disabled list Monday, May 23, and Duda said he hopes to begin a rehab assignment in a "couple weeks."
Fantasy Tip: Duda remains a potential stash candidate in deep mixed and NL-only leagues, as once healthy, he should roll right back into near full-time at-bats and start all games against right-handed pitchers. Over the past three seasons, he has returned a .477 slugging percentage with 64 home runs and 184 RBI over 327 games.

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) ran and played some catch for the first time since May Monday, July 18. In a best-case scenario, he could go on a rehab assignment by early August.
Fantasy Tip: It's been a slow road back for Duda and his fantasy owners. He's relevant when on the field, but that won't be for a while yet, and he was likely dumped in a lot of mixed leagues. He'll help in power (seven homers in 39 games), but he'll bring your squad down in average. Consider adding him when he's closer to a return if your lineup needs pop. James Loney has been seeing most of the starts at first base in the meantime.

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) will resume baseball activities next week in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Fantasy Tip: The team is doing fine without Duda in the lineup for the moment, but it hopes to have Duda for the stretch run and a possible try for the National League East championship. In the meantime, watch for James Loney to make continued starts at first base.

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) is still approximately two weeks away from baseball activities, which all but ends the potential of a return in July.
Fantasy Tip: James Loney has been filling in for New York with Duda out, and Loney is a viable starter in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, and he could do in a pinch in deep mixed setups. Duda is worth stashing in the majority of seasonal leagues, but you'll want to monitor his progress and keep your expectations in check going forward.

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) is riding a stationary bicycle but has not begun taking part in any baseball activities, according to manager Terry Collins.
Fantasy Tip: Duda had an underwhelming start to the season with just seven home runs, 19 RBI and a .231/.297/.431 slash line through 39 games before the injury. However, he has proven capable of putting together hot stretches and is worth stashing in the majority of seasonal leagues. James Loney has been filling in at first base for Duda, and Loney is a viable filler for cavernous mixed and NL-only owners. It doesn't appear Duda is close to returning, so plan to be without him for another few weeks and stay tuned for updates on his progress.

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks because of a stress fracture in his lower back, according to general manager Sandy Alderson.
Fantasy Tip: Newly-acquired James Loney should see the bulk of the playing time at first base against right-handed pitching, with Wilmer Flores and Eric Campbell seeing most of the action versus lefties. All three of these players should be viewed as NL-only fantasy options, with Loney having the most value.

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto will not be used at first base while 1B Lucas Duda (back) remains sidelined, even though he has been spotted fielding grounders at the position recently, according to manager Terry Collins. "He is not a first baseman," Collins said. "We here are not here to take a kid who has never played first base at the major-league level - and in a situation where we're expected to win a lot - and put an inexperienced guy in a tough position."
Fantasy Tip: The 23-year-old Conforto is batting .270 with eight home runs and 24 RBI through 148 at-bats but is not considered a great defensive player. INF Eric Campbell has seen most of the action at first base in the last few days, although INF Wilmer Flores (hamstring) will probably see the bulk of the playing time there once he returns from the disabled list. Flores should be grabbed in NL-only fantasy leagues if he is still available.
