Mets | Lucas Duda having success against lefties

Mon, 04 May 2015 14:45:44 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is hitting .407 against left-handed pitchers this season, and his 1.022 on-base plus slugging percentage is the eighth highest of any left-handed batter with at least 10 plate appearances against southpaws this season.

Fantasy Tip: Duda's ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) new found success against lefties holds more value in seasonal formats than daily contests, as typically, you're aiming for the handedness split. Plus, Duda's still a .224 hitter through 500 plate appearances against southpaws, so the larger sample size means something, too. Duda's value is on the rise, and his FantasyScore cap hit has plenty of profit room when he faces a weak starting pitcher.

Mets | Lucas Duda has sixth multi-hit game

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 18:01:49 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda picked up his sixth multi-hit game of the season Thursday, April 16, against the Miami Marlins.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) now has three multi-hit games in a row and is becoming a must start on FantasyScore until he cools off. Duda is a more favorable option against right-handed pitchers, but he has gotten off to a great start against lefties this season, with three hits in his first eight appearances.

Mets | Lucas Duda out vs. lefty

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 13:49:25 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is sitting the bench against Atlanta Braves left-handed SP Eric Stults Friday, April 10. OF Michael Cuddyer is starting at first base and hitting fourth in the lineup, while OF John Mayberry Jr. draws a start in left field and is hitting third in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Cuddyer ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) should be considered at FantasyScore as a value play against Stults. Cuddyer hit an astounding .412 with five of his 10 home runs against lefties in 51 at-bats last year.

Mets | Lucas Duda to sit this weekend

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 15:39:17 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda isn't involved in a platoon at first base, but manager Terry Collins said Duda will sit one of the games this weekend with the team facing two left-handed pitchers from the Atlanta Braves Friday, April 10, and Sunday, April 12. OF John Mayberry Jr. will enter the lineup as a result, with OF Michael Cuddyer shifting to first base. Duda hit just .180 with two home runs and 10 RBI in 111 at-bats versus southpaws in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Be careful with Duda ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) at FantasyScore this weekend. It's best to avoid him in both those games against lefty starters. Mayberry ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is much better in his career against lefties (.269 average), but he's a lukewarm daily option if he enters the starting lineup.

Mets | Lucas Duda extension talks shelved

Sun, 05 Apr 2015 12:32:10 -0700

Updating a previous report, the New York Mets and 1B Lucas Duda have agreed to shelve talks about a contract extension so that he can focus on the upcoming season, according to agent Dan Horwits.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $4.2 million contract for 2015 and remains under club control through 2017. Although he is a low-cost source of power in FantasyScore, you may want to avoid using him in the season opener Monday, April 6, when he faces Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer.

Mets | Lucas Duda talks may be on hold

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 12:34:20 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda continues to have dialogue with the team on a contract extension, but general manager Sandy Alderson said talks will be suspended once opening day arrives Monday, April 6, if no deal has been reached. Duda is scheduled to make $4.2 million in 2015, and he has two more years of arbitration eligibility if they go year to year.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will be a year-long help for FantasyScore users for his power in the right matchups. An opening day tilt against the Washington Nationals and Max Scherzer isn't the best opportunity to put him in your lineup, though.

Mets | Lucas Duda has deadline for talks

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 11:47:45 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda has been talking with the team about a contract extension, but the talks will end on opening day if the two sides are not able to reach an agreement so Duda can concentrate on the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) had a solid 2014 season with 27 home runs and 92 RBIs and will be the starting first baseman this season. Duda could be an option for owners on FantasyScore looking for power at a cheaper price.

Mets | Talking extension with Lucas Duda

Sun, 29 Mar 2015 06:01:56 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda appears to be in line for a long-term contract extension with the team. The extension would keep Duda with the Mets well into his 30s, according to two sources familiar with the negotiations. Duda will earn $4.2 million this season as an arbitration-eligible player and is currently under team control through the 2017 season.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) had a breakout season in 2014 after the Mets traded 1B Ike Davis to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Duda played in 153 games last season and finished with a careeer-high 30 home runs. Duda was limited to just a .180 batting average and a .516 OPS against left-handed pitchers, but is not expected to be used as a platoon player by the Mets. Duda should be used as a platoon option in fantasy, at least until he proves he is able to hit against lefties.

Mets | Lucas Duda pulled, but fine

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:28:34 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) was removed from the game Wednesday, March 25, after being hit by a pitch in the back. However, he was only scheduled to play another half inning, so manager Terry Collins said he removed Duda then.

Fantasy Tip: Being lifted from the game does not appear to be injury related. Duda ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) remains a solid mid-round target in drafts after launching 30 home runs and driving in 92 RBI last season. There are platoon and batting average concerns to keep in mind, too, though. Duda's a nice target for FantasySocre players when he faces a weak right-handed pitcher, as well.

Sat, 14 Mar 2015 07:15:59 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (intercostal) will play in the spring training game Saturday, March 14, as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Duda will be playing in his first spring training game of the season and appears to be on track for the start of the regular season. Duda can be an option in the middle rounds of drafts because of his power potential.
