Mets | Lucas Duda deserves full-time role

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 16:39:59 -0800

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda deserves everyday playing time against left-handed pitchers after he hit .285 with seven home runs against southpaws in 2015 in 123 at-bats, in the opinion of ESPNNewYork.com's Adam Rubin.

Fantasy Tip: Duda is once again a candidate to slug 30 home runs, and his improvements against lefties are a big reason why. However, he's prone to long slumps and is known as a streaky hitter, so be prepared to live with that if you own him.

Mets | Lucas Duda avoids arbitration

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 19:54:55 -0800

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda has avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal with the team worth $6.725 million.

Fantasy Tip: Duda had been looking for a one-year deal worth $7.5 million, while the club initially countered with a $5.9 million offer. He hit .244 with 27 home runs and 73 RBIs in 135 regular-season games last season and should be available to be drafted in the middle rounds of mixed fantasy leagues.

Mets | Lucas Duda files for arbitration

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 10:26:35 -0800

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda has filed for salary arbitration. He is seeking $7.5 million next season while the team has countered with a $5.9 million offer.

Fantasy Tip: Duda hit .244 with 27 home runs and 73 RBIs in 135 regular-season games last year but his streakiness can make him a player that's frustrating to own at times in seasonal leagues. He should be available in the middle rounds of all fantasy formats as a midrange option at first base.

Mets | Lucas Duda heating up?

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 15:41:15 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda has four hits in nine World Series at-bats through two games and is hitting .500 (8-for-16) in his last four playoff games. He's also using the opposite field often, which is a good sign for him. Duda has 57 home runs and 165 RBI in his last two seasons. Hitting coaches Kevin Long and Pat Roessler have helped Duda minimize and control the timing of his leg kick this year. He also hit much better at home (.275/.388/.611) than on the road (.215/.317/.368) this year.

Fantasy Tip: Duda is known as a streaky hitter, and if he is just starting to heat up in the World Series, the Kansas City Royals could be in trouble. Duda possesses plenty of power with his left-handed stick, but because of his streaky ways, he can be a very frustrating player to own in traditional fantasy leagues.

Mets | Two lefties struggle against Johnny Cueto

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 12:34:37 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (3-for-17) and 1B Lucas Duda (3-for-15 with 10 strikeouts) have both struggled in their careers against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto, who they will face in Game 2 of the World Series Wednesday, Oct. 28. OF Yoenis Cespedes is 0-for-2 against Cueto.

Fantasy Tip: Cueto had reverse split this year against lefties, as they only hit .215/.266/.332 against him with seven of his 21 home runs allowed. It could be another low-scoring game for the Mets offense in Game 2 as they look to even the series.

Mets | Lucas Duda in slump

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 16:39:48 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is currently 2-for-21 with 13 strikeouts in the playoffs but is 2-for-4 with a home run and two walks in his career against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks, the Game 3 starter in the National League Championship Series. Manager Terry Collins indicated that Duda's recent struggles are mechanical but didn't get into specifics.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is known as a very streaky hitter. When he's not in the zone you shouldn't consider him on FantasyScore despite his good numbers against Hendricks in a small sample size.

Mets | David Wright slumping in playoffs

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 10:11:49 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is hitting just .087 in the playoffs this year but insists that he is fine physically. Wright, 1B Lucas Duda and OF Michael Conforto are a combined .093 in seven postseason games.

Fantasy Tip: With Wright ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) struggling at the plate, you have to wonder if he's 100% healthy. Unless he breaks out in the playoffs, he's not very attractive as your FantasyScore third baseman right now.

Mets | Lucas Duda uncertain for Game 3

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 18:32:36 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is not a certainty to play in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday, Oct. 20. The primary alternative would be 2B Kelly Johnson starting at second base, with 2B Daniel Murphy sliding over to first base.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore unless he is officially included in the lineup. It sounds like he'll grab some pine, so it's best to go another way.

Mets | Lucas Duda not in Game 1 lineup

Sat, 17 Oct 2015 12:24:50 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs Saturday, Oct. 17. 1B/OF Michael Cuddyer will play first base and bat sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) went 2-for-18 with 11 strikeouts during the NLDS and is sitting out versus left-handed SP Jon Lester. Cuddyer ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is 0-for-4 with a walk during the playoffs but could be a productive source of FantasyScore salary cap relief.

Mets | Lucas Duda could be benched

Sat, 17 Oct 2015 10:29:37 -0700

New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson hinted that slumping 1B Lucas Duda may not be in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series Saturday, Oct. 17, against left-handed SP Jon Lester.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) went 2-for-18 with 11 strikeouts while playing in all five games of the NLDS versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is a notoriously streaky hitter and FantasyScore owners should look for more consistent options at first base Saturday.
