The Washington Nationals reassigned SP Ross Ohlendorf and SS Zach Walters to minor league camp. The team also optioned Ps Ryan Perry, Erik Davis and Yunesky Maya, INF Chris Marrero, C Jhonatan Solano and OF Corey Brown to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Washington Nationals activated SP Chien-Ming Wang (hip) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 4. The team also recalled OF Corey Brown from Triple-A Syracuse. Wang was 4-6 with a 5.51 ERA in 15 minor league rehab appearances.

The Washington Nationals will use a platoon situation in center field between OFs Roger Bernadina and Tyler Moore until OF Jayson Werth (wrist) returns from the disabled list. Moore will play against left-handed pitchers, with Bernadina facing righties. OF Corey Brown will come off the bench.

Updating a previous report, the Washington Nationals have placed SS Ian Desmond (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique injury. In a corresponding move, the team recalled OF Corey Brown from Triple-A Syracuse.

Nationals | Ian Desmond headed to DL

The Washington Nationals will place SS Ian Desmond (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list with a tear in his left oblique. The team isn't putting a timetable on his return to the lineup. OF Corey Brown is expected to be called up in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Oblique strains can linger, so expect Desmond to be out for at least a month, if not longer. Danny Espinosa will shift over to shortstop and Steve Lombardozzi will fill in at second base. With more PT coming Lombardozzi's way, he can be useful in mixed leagues for middle infield depth. He also has outfield eligibility, too.
