MLB.com's Daren Smith reports Oakland Athletics SP James Simmons is trying to develop an out pitch in the Arizona Fall League. "It seems like I can get two strikes on everybody," Simmons said. "I'm working on a cutter and throwing the curveball a little harder. The last two years, it's been a little loopy."

John Shea, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports the Oakland Athletics optioned P Ryan Webb, 3B Jeff Baisley and IF Eric Patterson to Triple-A Sacramento Monday, March 16. P Kevin Cameron, P James Simmons, SP Jerome Williams, IF Joe Dillon and 1B Sean Doolittle were all reassigned to the minor leagues.

Athletics.MLB.com's Mychael Urban reports Oakland Athletics first-round pick in 2007, SP James Simmons, is 9-6 with a 3.53 ERA and has 115 strikeouts in 130 innings. His strikeouts and ERA are third in the Texas League at Double-A Midland.

Updating a previous report, Matt Smith, of Oakland.Athletics.MLB.com, reports Oakland Athletics P James Simmons has been sent to Double-A Midland. Simmons, the Athletics' first-round draft pick this year, was signed to a contract Tuesday, June 19, which included a $1,192,500 million signing bonus.
