Wed, 05 Jun 2013 15:48:28 -0700 Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle has been struggling lately, and he noticed a mechanical flaw after watching film of his performances lately. "I'm flying open just a touch," Doolittle said. "My hips were coming open a little bit too soon, and I think I was showing them the ball a little bit too early and it was taking away some of the life that I have on my fastball, because I wasn't staying behind it as long. Wed, 29 Aug 2012 11:00:31 -0700 Oakland Athletics RPs Ryan Cook and Sean Doolittle both recently discovered flaws with their pitching mechanics. As a result, he lost some velocity and late motion on his heater. Doolittle hasn't given up a run in his last eight games after making a correction.
Cook lost the closer gig after a stretch of four blown saves and a 10.13 ERA in eight games. Doolittle noticed a flaw in Cook's delivery, but Cook didn't want to expand on the details. Since making a correction, Cook hasn't given up a run in his last six games.
