Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys will not sign unrestricted free-agent RB Trung Canidate (Redskins) at this time, but he could be an option in the future.

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys will bring in RB Trung Canidate (Redskins) for a workout Thursday, April 26. If the workout goes well, the team could possibly invite Canidate to training camp.

John Murphy, of Yahoo! Sports, reports free-agent RB Trung Canidate (Redskins) has been in contact with several teams with an eye towards setting up workouts prior to the NFL Draft. Canidate, who has been out of action since 2003 due to a foot injury, has received a clean bill of health and has recently been timed in the mid-4.4 range during training.

During his NFL Combine interview, Oregon WR Demetrius Williams worked out in Pleasanton, Calif., before the Senior Bowl. After the Senior Bowl, he worked out in Arizona at a place called Make Plays with Warren Anderson where he did more 40 training. Free agent RB Trung Canidate also helped Williams train.

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports one of the reasons the Washington Redskins decided to release RB Trung Canidate was because the team fears he will need surgery to repair a foot injury that slowed him last season. While the main reason the team released him is that he doesn't fit into the power back scheme head coach Joe Gibbs favors, some team officials are whispering to teams showing interest in Canidate that he may not be ready to play for awhile.

Gary Fitzgerald, of Redskins.com, reports Washington Redskins RB Sultan McCullough could get an extended look in mini-camps and training camp as head coach Joe Gibbs looks to find a running back who can log 18-25 carries per game. RBs Trung Canidate, Ladell Betts, Chad Morton and Rock Cartwright will also be vying for the starting job. If nobody steps up in mini-camps, however, the roster may be upgraded through the draft or free agency. The Redskins' rushing attack finished 22nd in the NFL last season.
