Fri, 15 Mar 2013 10:41:24 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals RP Marc Rzepczynski (eye) hopes to pitch in a game this weekend since his vision appears to have returned to normal. The prescription for the eyeglasses he received following his evaluation on Wednesday, March 13, was too strong, he felt, so he took them off and eventually felt that his vision was restored, somehow. The left-hander believes that it was likely a result of the anti-inflammatory eye drops he received. Fantasy Tip: The lefty specialist is highly unlikely to have fantasy value, but this is good news for the Cards' bullpen.
Wed, 13 Mar 2013 00:16:53 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals RP Marc Rzepczynski (eye), whose left eye was bruised by a projectile while playing golf, threw a bullpen session Tuesday, March 12, at the team's complex in Jupiter, Fla. Mon, 11 Mar 2013 13:42:41 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals RP Marc Rzepczynski (eye) has been cleared to resume throwing Monday, March 11, after three days of rest. "Being able to throw off a mound is the best thing I've heard since Friday," Rzepczynski said. "It's looking better. He said there should be no permanent damage." He is hoping to play catch Tuesday, March 12. He won't take part in much physical exertion, however, which includes appearances in spring games. He'll see an eye doctor again Wednesday, March 13. Rzepczynski will continue to have blurred vision as long as his eye has inflammation, and he's unlikely to wear contacts for a while. It's unclear if he'll be ready for opening day.

His eye and the area around it were deeply bruised but the retina was not damaged and he was told there was a "95 percent chance there would be no permanent damage." The team's medical staff advised him to rest at home for three days before being re-evaluated Monday, March 11. Rzepczynski has also noticed reduced swelling but his return will depend upon the severity of the bruising in and around his eye.
