Toronto Blue Jays SPs Joel Carreno, Drew Hutchison, Jesse Chavez and Brett Cecil are candidates to be recalled and make the start as the fifth starter against the Kansas City Royals Saturday, April 21. Carreno is scheduled to start with Triple-A Las Vegas Wednesday, April 18, so he will be ruled out if he makes that outing. P Aaron Laffey is an unlikely candidate because he was optioned last Friday.

Toronto Blue Jays SP Brett Cecil allowed four runs, four hits and five walks with three strikeouts in just 2 2/3 innings Friday, March 23. He needed 35 pitches to get through the first inning, and ended up needing 81 pitches to record eight outs. However, he was positive after the game. "Of course, you don't want the type of results I had, but I liked the way I was able to recover and figure out what to fix," Cecil said. "I made the adjustment of staying on line. It is still spring training and it's good to have things like this happen now as opposed to the regular season."

Toronto Blue Jays SP Brett Cecil allowed one hit in two scoreless innings against the New York Yankees in his Grapefruit League start Thursday, March 8. He topped out at 88 mph in the second inning, and most of his pitches were around 86 mph.
