Kansas City Royals OF David Lough (quadriceps) is playing at 80-85 percent health, and he'll take the next two games off. Lough left the game early with right quadriceps tightness Sunday, Aug. 4.
Fantasy Tip: Justin Maxwell, who has been platooning with Lough, will see a short-term boost. However, Jarrod Dyson could also factor in.

Kansas City Royals OF Justin Maxwell is expected to share time in right field with OF David Lough.
Fantasy Tip: Lorenzo Cain's (groin) status may push Maxwell to center field for the short term. It's unclear how much Maxwell will play in favor of Lough, but it's probably not enough for him to gain relevance in deep mixed leagues, just yet.

The Kansas City Royals have acquired OF Justin Maxwell from the Kansas City Royals, according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: Maxwell joins a crowded outfield. David Lough and Lorenzo Cain (groin) have been receiving most of the playing time recently, and that seems unlikely to change because of this deal, unless Cain's injury turns out to be serious. Jarrod Dyson is also a factor, though. It's unclear yet what KC gave up. The odds increase that prospect George Springer will debut for Houston in 2013.

Kansas City Royals OF David Lough entered the game hitting .301 Friday, June 28, and he's playing well enough to warrant regular playing time. Lough is starting for the 25th time in the last 32 games Friday. "I'm feeling confident that I (belong) up here and can play every day -- and prove that I can (do that). I feel good," he said.
Fantasy Tip: This is bad news for Lorenzo Cain owners now that the Royals are now carrying five outfielders. As long as Lough continues to play well, it'll eat into Cain's PT.

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said OF Jarrod Dyson (ankle) is probably "at least three weeks" away from rejoining the Royals following his high-ankle sprain.
Fantasy Tip: This will allow Jeff Francoeur -- and on some days, David Lough -- to sustain AL-only-centric at-bats.

Kansas City Royals 2B Chris Getz is getting a shot at the leadoff spot since he's started to swing the bat better recently. He's gone 2-for-5 with a walk in his last two starts after previously going 4-for-46. SS Alcides Escobar (three games), OF Jarrod Dyson (three games), OF Lorenzo Cain (three games) and OF David Lough (three games) were all tried in the top spot.
Fantasy Tip: Maybe this keeps Getz going after he picked it up in the last couple of games. If he can peform well in the top spot, it'll help his chances of convincing Ned Yost that he belongs in the lineup on a daily basis, along with the fact that Yost has had trouble finding suitable leadoff hitters. Getz is mainly middle infield insurance in cavernous mixed leagues.

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson (ankle) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list. The team has recalled OF David Lough from Triple-A Omaha.
Fantasy Tip: Dyson's recent increase in playing time comes to a temp end. Jeff Francoeur will probably get his PT back but is at best a 15-team mixed league reserve unless he gets hot. If Lough gets a few ABs, he may be useful in deep AL-only leagues.
