San Diego Padres RP Tom Layne picked up a one-out save Wednesday, Sept. 5.

Fantasy Tip: He has two saves and has struck out 17 in 10 1/3 innings. We're still putting our money on Luke Gregerson in the committee. Layne is left-handed and will likely be used against lefties late in the game.

San Diego Padres RP Thomas Layne pitched a perfect eighth inning in his major league debut Tuesday, Aug. 14, as he recorded three strikeouts against the Atlanta Braves in a 6-0 loss. Layne struck out C Brian McCann, 2B Dan Uggla and SS Tyler Pastornicky.

Steve Gilbert, of Diamondbacks.MLB.com, reports the Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with P Thomas Layne, the team's 26th-round selection of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft. No financial terms were disclosed.
