The Washington Nationals offered SP Jordan Zimmermann and SS Ian Desmond to the Seattle Mariners for SP Taijuan Walker and SS Brad Miller. The Mariners declined taking on $27.5 million in salary when they still need a right fielder.

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg will be available out of the bullpen in Game 4 of the National League Division Series against the San Francisco Giants Tuesday, Oct. 7. SP Jordan Zimmermann will be available only in an "extreme emergency." It would be Strasburg's normal turn for a potential Game 5 Thursday, Oct. 9, while Zimmermann could also pitch on normal rest.
