Tigers | Jordan Zimmermann financials

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 01:33:40 -0800

Detroit Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann will earn $18 million in each of his first two seasons of the new $110 million contract. His salary goes to $24 million in 2018 and then to $25 million in 2019 and 2020. He gets a full no-trade clause for three seasons and Zimmermann can then select up to 10 teams where he could be dealt for either 2019 or 2020.

Fantasy Tip: Get used to seeing Zimmermann in a Detroit uniform for the next three years, and that should help bolster the Tigers' pitching staff.

Tigers | DET agrees to terms with Jordan Zimmermann

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 08:40:10 -0800

The Detroit Tigers have agreed to a deal with free-agent SP Jordan Zimmermann (Nationals), pending a physical. Terms of the agreement are not yet known.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmermann went 13-10 with a 3.66 ERA in 33 starts for the Nats last season, with 164 strikeouts over 201 2/3 innings. The 29-year-old right-hander should be drafted in the early rounds of AL-only fantasy baseball leagues and the middle rounds of mixed leagues next spring.

Tigers | DET looking at Jordan Zimmermann

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 00:26:29 -0800

Free-agent SP Jordan Zimmermann (Nationals) is gaining interest from the Detroit Tigers, to the point where talks have become serious.

Fantasy Tip: The Tigers weren't considered a big landing point for Zimmermann, although it is no secret Detroit wanted a big-name pitcher or two to upgrade that staff. Zimmermann could be an early-round draft candidate in AL leagues or an early to middle-round selection in the mixed leagues if this comes true.

Dodgers | LA pursuing Jordan Zimmermann

Sat, 21 Nov 2015 11:55:18 -0800

The Los Angeles Dodgers have expressed interest in free-agent SP Jordan Zimmermann (Nationals).

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers' pursuit of Zimmermann does not necessarily mean that the club will not go after fellow free agent SP Zack Greinke, although it's difficult to imagine Los Angeles potentially setting aside such a large portion of their payroll for Zimmermann, Greinke and Clayton Kershaw. The 29-year-old right-hander went 13-10 with a 3.66 ERA in 33 starts last season, with 39 walks and 164 strikeouts over 201 2/3 innings. The team he winds up signing with will impact his fantasy value somewhat but he should be considered as a solid No. 2 starter in seasonal leagues next year.

Nationals | Jordan Zimmerman opts for free agency

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 14:48:43 -0800

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann rejected the Washington Nationals' one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer Friday, Nov. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Over the past five years, Zimmermann has averaged a 3.14 ERA, a 3.30 FIP, a 1.14 WHIP and a 7.3 K/9 over 971 2/3 innings. He is entering his age-30 season in 2016, and he projects as a solid No. 2 starter for your fantasy rotation. His landing spot will impact his worth in the virtual game, though, so check back for updates.

Nationals | Qualifying offers extended to two Nats

Fri, 06 Nov 2015 14:24:16 -0800

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann and SS Ian Desmond each received a $15.8 million qualifying offer from the team.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmermann will enter his age-30 season following a five-year stretch were he posted a 3.14 ERA, a 3.30 FIP, a 1.14 WHIP and a 7.3 K/9 over 971 2/3 innings. He projects as a low-end No. 2 starter for your rotation in mixed leagues entering the 2016 campaign. Desmond, on the other hand, enters 2016 following an incredibly disappointing season. However, a closer look highlights a four-year decline in batting average and OPS for Desmond and a four-year increase in his strikeout total. Be careful not to reach too early on Desmond in seasonal leagues next spring.

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann owns a career 3-0 record with a 1.86 ERA and 32 strikeouts through 29 innings pitched over four starts at Turner Field. Zimmermann is making a road start against the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players should view Zimmermann ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) as a high-end option Wednesday, and facing the league's lowest-scoring offense, he could easily be the top arm available. Start Zimmerman with confidence in all fantasy formats.
