Nationals | Jayson Werth out

Tue, 12 Aug 2014 12:04:48 -0700

Washington Nationals Jayson Werth (shoulder, ankle) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 12. OF Michael Taylor is playing right field and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Werth battled nagging shoulder and ankle injuries last week. The Nationals had an off-day Monday, Aug. 11, so this is a rare opportunity for manager Matt Williams to give Werth two off-days where Werth misses just a single game. Check back for updates on Werth's status.

Athletics | Sam Fuld has good chance to make club

Sat, 22 Feb 2014 20:20:50 -0800

Oakland Athletics OF Sam Fuld profiles as the team's fourth or fifth outfielder, and manager Bob Melvin calls Fuld a "pest." The team already has four with OFs Yoenis Cespedes, Coco Crisp, Craig Gentry and Josh Reddick, and likely won't carry another if they want to keep six infielders and three catchers. If an injury opens up a spot, Fuld might be in a heated competition with fellow Stanford alum OF Michael Taylor, who is out of options.
