Michael Taylor Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Michael Taylor MLB and fantasy baseball news
Wed, 15 May 2013 12:02:41 -0700 Oakland Athletics OF Chris B. Young (quadriceps) will play for Triple-A Sacramento Thursday, May 16, and is likely to come off the disabled list Friday, May 17. The team will decide to send C Luke Montz down or designate 1B Daric Barton for assignment to make room for Young on the roster. Fantasy Tip: Michael Taylor was sent down to the minors today, so Young figures to platoon in the outfield with Seth Smith, as he was doing before. Young has power, but he won't do you any favors in the batting average category. This makes him an asset in cavernous mixed formats with deep outfield setups.
Mon, 13 May 2013 16:23:44 -0700 Oakland Athletics OFs Coco Crisp (hamstring) and Chris B. Young (quadriceps) are close to a return, but Young felt something in his quadriceps during a rehab game Monday, May 13. Crisp had a great day of running, and he could return before Young Wednesday, May 15. Young will play in another game Tuesday, May 14, and he could be rested through the end of the week. Fantasy Tip: Michael Taylor's playing time will come to an end when Crisp and Young return. If Crisp is out there on your waiver wire, add him to your team now. Young figures to platoon in right field when he's back with Seth Smith. Both Young and Smith are worth roster spots in cavernous mixed formats.
Thu, 09 May 2013 14:32:22 -0700 Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (hamstring) has started taking swings off a tee since he's feeling better, and he could start running soon. However, OF Chris B. Young (quadriceps) is expected to be ready to return before Crisp. Both players can come off the disabled list May 16. Fantasy Tip: With Josh Reddick (wrist) also on the DL right now, the Athletics are testing their outfield depth. Once both Crisp and Young return, Michael Taylor will lose his value for those taking advantage of his playing time in deep mixed leagues. Seth Smith should re-enter into a platoon with Young when the time comes, too.
Sat, 04 May 2013 11:24:15 -0700 The Oakland Athletics have placed OF Chris B. Young (quadriceps) on the 15-day disabled list because of a left quadriceps strain. Young said he is able to jog but experiences soreness whenever he tries to move any faster than that. He is eligible to be activated May 15, and is expected to be ready to return by then. In a corresponding move, OF Michael Taylor has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. Fantasy Tip: Manager Bob Melvin said Taylor is expected to see more playing time than in his previous stints with the club, especially when the A's are facing left-handed pitchers. However, he should only be considered for deep AL-only leagues.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 08:00:22 -0700 The Oakland Athletics optioned OF Michael Taylor to Triple-A Sacramento.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 14:40:49 -0700 Oakland Athletics OF Casper Wells is likely to hit against left-handed hitters in a possible platoon, because manager Bob Melvin mentioned the fact that Wells hits lefties well. OF Michael Taylor is likely to be sent down to make room on the roster for Wells. Fantasy Tip: Wells should receive a look in cavernous AL-only leagues if he indeed becomes part of an outfield platoon, at least until Yoenis Cespedes (hand) returns from the DL, which could be this weekend.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 14:21:18 -0700 Oakland Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes (hand) is unable to swing a bat, and it's unknown if he'll be back when eligible to return from the 15-day disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Just based on the fact that Cespedes hasn't started swinging yet would indicated that he likely won't be back when eligible, but it may not be far off after that. Seth Smith is swinging a hot stick and should be owned in most leagues while he's hot and getting conasistent playing time. Michael Taylor is also worth a look in AL-only leagues while Cespedes is shelved.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 20:01:27 -0700 The Oakland Athletics optioned OFs Grant Green and Michael Taylor to Triple-A Sacramento Sunday, March 17.
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 14:05:43 -0700 Oakland Athletics OF Michael Taylor (pinkie) will return to the lineup Friday, March 15.
Sun, 10 Mar 2013 10:22:34 -0700 Oakland Athletics OF Michael Taylor (pinkie) has been sidelined for a week because of an injury to his right pinkie finger that happened while he was throwing a piece of gum away. As he made the toss inside the team's dugout, his hand hit the light on the ceiling, slicing his finger. He is unable to play again until the gash closes.
