Oakland Athletics OF Jake Smolinski (shoulder) underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair his labrum in addition to a bursectomy procedure. Smolinski is expected to be in a sling for the next four weeks before beginning the first phase of his recovery.

Fantasy Tip: The veteran outfield has a history of neck injuries, so this is something that could keep him out a while longer. Stay tuned for updates. Smolinski is hitting .333 this month and has two homers in his last four games, so he's certainly worth a low-priced flier in DFS against Perez.

OF Jake Smolinski will start in center field. 3B Danny Valencia will start in right field, while 1B Yonder Alonso will start at first base and is batting eighth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Blake Snell.

Fantasy Tip: Alonso is hitting only .220 with one home run and six RBI against left-handed pitchers this season and probably should be avoided in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Since the All-Star break, Smolinski is 8-for-21 (.381) with a home run and four RBI. The team is looking to getting an extended at Smolinski down the stretch, and he's at least worth owning in all AL-only leagues.
