Athletics | Jake Smolinski playing right field

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 12:08:42 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Jake Smolinski will bat fifth and play right field against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Saturday, July 25. OF Josh Reddick is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Smolinski ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is 7-for-17 (.412) this month with two home runs and seven RBIs and is hitting 110 points better against lefties than righties this season. Given his recent production combined with his spot in the batting order, he could be a decent FantasyScore sleeper pick this afternoon.

Athletics | Jake Smolinski in LF

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 15:08:13 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Jake Smolinski will start in left field and hit fifth in the order Tuesday, July 21, against the Toronto Blue Jays and LHP Mark Buehrle. OF Mark Canha comes out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Smolinski ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) went 3-for-5 with two home runs in his last game. That outing came against a left-handed starter, and Smolinski comes at great value for use in GPP tournaments while having a premium position in the batting order.

Athletics | Jake Smolinski launches a pair

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 20:32:43 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Jake Smolinski went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in a 14-1 win over the Minnesota Twins Sunday, July 19.

Fantasy Tip: Smolinski has made a quick impact being acquired from Texas, and he is hitting .556 in four games with Oakland. However, he is hitting just .188 for the year, so don't expect a repeat of Sunday's performance any time soon.

Athletics | Jake Smolinski playing left field

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 11:35:15 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Smolinski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is 2-for-5 since joining the A's but is only batting .156 in 64 at-bats in the majors this season. Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick is not in the lineup against New York Yankees left-handed SP CC Sabathia Wednesday, July 8. OF Jake Smolinski is starting in right field and hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Smolinski hit just .133 (8-for-60) with a home run and six RBI for the Texas Rangers this year. It'll be his first action for the A's. He's a low-end outfield play as a deep sleeper tonight against Sabathia.

Rangers | Kyle Blanks to the DL

Fri, 22 May 2015 13:41:02 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Kyle Blanks (undisclosed) went on the 15-day disabled list with a cyst in an undisclosed location Friday, May 22. OF Jake Smolinski will return to the majors to replace him.

Fantasy Tip: Blanks ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) lost his everyday role as a starter at first base once Mitch Moreland came off the DL recently, so he had become an afterthought at FantasyScore. Smolinski is likely to be a bench option with Delino DeShields Jr. moving into a starting role in the outfield and with Josh Hamilton's (shoulder) debut on the horizon next week.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo riding pine

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:36:40 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28. OF Jake Smolinski is starting in right field and hitting second in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP J.A. Happ.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is off to a terrible start in 2015, hitting only .096 (5-for-52) with a home run and five RBI. In shallow mixed leagues, he's probably not worth a roster spot while he's struggling. Smolinski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has just four hits in 36 at-bats on the season, and he's another weak FantasyScore play on this Tuesday night.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo sitting out Wednesday

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Wednesday, April 15. OF Jake Smolinski is starting in right field and hitting fifth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Smolinski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has fared very well against southpaws in his young career, hitting .400 against them with two of his three home runs in 25 at-bats. He's a leap of faith at FantasyScore today, but it could pay off against Santiago.
