Athletics | Stephen Vogt batting second

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 12:18:58 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt will bat second against San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson Sunday, July 26.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is only batting .197 with one home run and five RBIs this month and should be avoided in FantasyScore until he shows signs of turning things around offensively.

Athletics | Josh Phegley catching Saturday

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 11:55:37 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley will bat sixth against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Saturday, July 25. C/1B Stephen Vogt is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is batting .250 with one home run and seven RBIs this month and is hitting .319 versus southpaws this year. However, a game versus one of baseball's most dominant pitchers makes this a less-than-desirable matchup for Phegley, so he should be avoided in FantasyScore today.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt unhappy with trade

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 16:56:11 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt voiced his displeasure at the trading of SP Scott Kazmir (Astros) prior to the game Thursday, July 23, against the Toronto Blue Jays. Vogt said there was no opportunity for pregame prep work with Thursday's emergency starter SP Drew Pomeranz. "None. It's an ambush. Our whole pitching staff got ambushed," said Vogt.

Fantasy Tip: Pomeranz last 1 2/3 innings, and he gave up two hits, two runs and one walk while striking out four. Pomeranz has looked good at times as a starter this year, but he could've used more time to prepare. He'll be a risky, high-upside option on FantasyScore for as long as he's in the rotation.

Athletics | Josh Phegley catching Sunday

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 11:29:35 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley will bat seventh against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Sunday, July 19. C Stephen Vogt will receive the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is batting .306 versus lefties this season but is just 5-for-29 (.172) over his last 10 games. Better catching options should be available in FantasyScore today for a lower price.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt catching Saturday

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 12:10:24 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt is starting behind the plate and batting against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Saturday, July 11. C Josh Phegley is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has struggled during the month of July, going 5-for-32 with one RBI. Avoid using him in FantasyScore for the time being until he shows signs of turning things around.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt sitting vs. Tribe

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 12:34:33 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 10. C Josh Phegley is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Vogt in all formats Friday. He is having a monster season but is beginning to show signs of slowing down, as his .236/.319/.333 slash line since Monday, June 1 suggests. While Phegley ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has struggled to reach base against righties (.218 batting average and .267 on-base percentage), he does boast ample power (.236 ISO and .455 slugging percentage). FantasyScore players should view Phegley as a high-risk, high-reward option Friday.

Athletics | Ike Davis resting vs. lefty

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 11:17:57 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis is not in the lineup against New York Yankees left-handed SP CC Sabathia Wednesday, July 8. C Stephen Vogt is at first base with C Josh Phegley starting behind the plate and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has been effective against lefties (.310/.365/.534 with three of his five home runs) this year, making him an acceptable value pick on FantasyScore tonight. Vogt ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has just one of his 13 home runs against lefties, but he's also not a terrible option against Sabathia.

Athletics | Josh Phegley catching Sunday

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 11:38:53 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley is back in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Mike Montgomery Sunday, July 5, batting fifth. C/1B Stephen Vogt, who was behind the plate Saturday, July 4, will play first base and bat second.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is batting .273 overall but is hitting .321 versus lefties this season, making him worthy of consideration for FantasyScore lineups this afternoon.

Athletics | Ike Davis in lineup Saturday

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 11:13:30 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis will bat sixth against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Saturday, July 4. C/1B Stephen Vogt, who played first base Friday, July 3, will catch Saturday, with C Josh Phegley getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: With Hernandez on the mound, Davis ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is not a great FantasyScore option this afternoon. He is 1-for-5 against the righty in his career.

Athletics | Josh Phegley hitting fifth

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 15:29:16 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley will start behind the plate and hit fifth in the order Thursday, July 2, against the Seattle Mariners and LHP Roenis Elias. C Stephen Vogt will start at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is crushing left-handed pitching to the tune of a .340 batting average this season. Phegley is worth a start any time he's facing a southpaw, and he offers a measure of cap relief to FantasyScore owners.
