Mon, 22 Apr 2013 11:25:32 -0700 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee got his first win of the season by beating the Washington Nationals Sunday, April 21. He gave up no runs and just three hits in 5 2/3 innings while striking out six and walking three.
Fri, 08 Mar 2013 16:07:05 -0800 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) walked three in four innings in his spring outing Friday, March 8. The team will watch Gee's progress closely in spring training after he didn't pitch past July 7 last year due to a blood clot in his shoulder. Gee said the injury is behind him and that he was pleased with his secondary pitches.
Thu, 07 Feb 2013 13:29:38 -0800 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) will have nitroglycerine cream on hand during games this year as a precaution, but he thinks his issues with circulation are past him. He resumed throwing off a mound two weeks ago but he isn't going full speed. Gee doesn't expect any recurrence of his circulation problems after having surgery last year. However, he still has numbness in his fingers in cold weather, which could affect him in New York. "Let's say if it's less than 35 degrees and I'm outside for much more than 30 minutes without gloves on, then my fingers will still go numb," Gee said. "But that's actually getting better, too. I mean, right after the surgery, they would go numb if it was 50 degrees outside. Over time it'll keep getting better, but that's going to take a while. My fingertips were damaged pretty badly because of all the blood clots I've been throwing through all the years. But it's definitely way, way better." He said he's further along in his offseason program than he normally would be.
Fri, 25 Jan 2013 12:48:31 -0800 Al Goetz, the agent for New York Mets SP Zack Wheeler, believes his client should begin the year in the team's starting rotation. "If the Mets have five starters better than what I saw from (Wheeler) they will win the East," Goetz tweeted. However, the Mets already have a full rotation with SPs Johan Santana, Matt Harvey, Jonathon Niese, Dillon Gee and Shaun Marcum.
Sat, 29 Dec 2012 20:21:50 -0800 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) has been feeling good one month into an offseason throwing program following surgery for a blood clot in his right shoulder. He is feeling fresher after he throws, and looser. "One of the things with my surgery we were hoping for was, by recouping some of the blood flow I had lost, that my recovery would be better and that seems to be the case so far," Gee said.
Fri, 28 Sep 2012 11:43:57 -0700 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session Monday, Sept. 24. He's done with baseball activities for the immediate future and indicated his winter buildup to spring training should be the same as any other offseason. Gee fully expects the clotting issue is now behind him and will not recur.
Mon, 27 Aug 2012 09:42:12 -0700 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) received a clean bill of health after having an angiogram on his shoulder Friday, Aug. 24. He will wait until this week to resume throwing and going through full workouts. He's expected to be fully healthy for spring training next year.
Wed, 22 Aug 2012 13:24:46 -0700 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) will undergo an angiogram Friday, Aug. 24, and he should be cleared to resume throwing. However, the team isn't expecting to have him back this year.
Tue, 14 Aug 2012 10:43:22 -0700 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) has made good progress three weeks after having surgery to fix a damaged artery in his pitching arm but he's still unlikely to return this season. "They said it looks great. I'm progressing fast," Gee said about the three-week post-op examination. "It's still three more weeks until the six-week checkup. That's where they're going to clear me to throw, hopefully. It's still too premature for me to start throwing now."
Sat, 11 Aug 2012 08:53:07 -0700 New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (shoulder) said Saturday, Aug. 11, that it was "unrealistic" that he will return this season after shoulder surgery July 13. However, he continues to progress well from the procedure done on his pitching shoulder.
