Darin Mastroianni Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Darin Mastroianni MLB and fantasy baseball news
Wed, 22 May 2013 11:34:39 -0700 Updating previous reports, Minnesota Twins OF/1B Chris Parmelee (head) said that he passed his initial concussion test but was still experiencing concussion-like symptoms prior to his placement on the seven-day disabled list. He said that he feels better today. He'll be re-evaluated on Friday, May 24, when he takes the ImPACT test, which determines whether he has a concussion or just showed the symptoms because of the initial blow to his head. Fantasy Tip: It sounds as if Parmelee has a good chance to avoid an extended absence. Wilkin Ramirez is likely also a candidate to play more often, and Ryan Doumit can play a little corner outfield if needed. Ramirez and Colabello are unlikely to have fantasy value.
Fri, 17 May 2013 19:08:54 -0700 Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) will have surgery Wednesday, May 22, to repair a bone chip on the inside of his left ankle. Assistant general manager Rob Antony said Friday, May 17, that the team is optimistic Mastroianni will be back on the field in six weeks.
Wed, 15 May 2013 10:52:59 -0700 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) didn't feel "comfortable" when he tested his ankle by doing light sprints, according to assistant general manager Rob Antony. Fantasy Tip: The outfielder was diagnosed last month with a stress reaction in his left ankle and is now past his original three-week timetable without making significant progress. It sounds like it'll be awhile before he's an option for fantasy owners. Minnesota will likely continue to give OF Aaron Hicks plenty of opportunities to learn from his mistakes.
Fri, 03 May 2013 17:04:42 -0700 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) had a CT scan on his left ankle Thursday, May 2, in Minneapolis. The test revealed he hasn't made as much progress as the team had hoped, and he will have to wear a walking boot for at least another week. There is no timetable on Mastroianni's return from the stress reaction.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 16:39:57 -0700 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) will be out three weeks with a stress reaction in his left ankle, and he was walking with a boot on Wednesday, April 17. Mastroianni will wear the walking boot for 10 to 14 days. Fantasy Tip: This is a tough break for Mastroianni, who was just starting to see more playing time with Aaron Hicks struggling to open the year. A stress fracture in an ankle isn't anything to mess with, so expect the Twins to be cautious here. Hicks and fellow prospect Oswaldo Arcia will see plenty of playing time alongside Josh Willingham in the outfield. Arcia should be added in AL-only leagues.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 08:23:38 -0700 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an ankle injury. OF Oswaldo Arcia was recalled from Triple-A Rochester.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 15:18:23 -0700 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) was scratched from the lineup with a sore left ankle Tuesday, April 16. He's listed as day-to-day. 2B Brian Dozier is leading off Tuesday.
Sun, 07 Apr 2013 14:31:08 -0700 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) is dealing with a bruised left ankle and is not ready to play a nine-inning game. Manager Ron Gardenhire said he hopes Mastroianni will be able to play in a game this week.
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 14:57:03 -0700 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (foot) is available to play after fouling a ball off his left foot during spring training. He is serving as the team's fourth outfielder after losing out on the center field job to OF Aaron Hicks. Mastroianni will be used as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement late in games when he doesn't start. Manager Ron Gardenhire wants to be cautious with Mastroianni, though, because he can see that he isn't fully healthy yet. Fantasy Tip: Mastroianni isn't worth owning in mixed leagues because he won't be playing often enough. He could end up seeing more PT if Hicks struggles as the starting center fielder, but that remains to be seen.
Fri, 08 Mar 2013 13:45:58 -0800 Minnesota Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (hamstring) has been cleared by team doctors and could play in a spring game Saturday, March 9.
