Rams | Two Under the Knife

According to the Post-Dispatch, St. Louis Rams LB Dustin Cohen and WR/KR Yo Murphy had off-season knee surgery. Cohen had his knee flushed out in an arthroscopic procedure while Murphy had a small tear in his quad tendon "sewed up." According to head trainer Jim Anderson, Murphy also had some "wear and tear" stuff done.

The Houston Chronicle reports QB Marc Bulger was the St. Louis Rams No. 3 QB for the Super Bowl (as he has been all season). RB Justin Watson, S Rich Coady, LB Brian Allen, LB Dustin Cohen, T John St. Clair and T Kaulanna Noa were the players declared inactive for the game.

St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz said S Willie Gary (sprained ankle) is coming along fine but his status is still a little suspect for this weekend's game. DL Jeff Zgonina (triceps) still has a very swollen triceps but will be able to play. They've fitted his elbow for a brace, which he may have to wear. OT Ryan Tucker (ankle) is back at full-speed and will start this weekend. LB Dustin Cohen (knee) may be available as a special teams player this weekend.

St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz said FS Rich Coady (ankle) and LB Dustin Cohen (knee) will be looked at again on Wednesday to see where they stand. There's a chance Cohen could play this weekend but it doesn't look good for Coady again. DL Jeff Zgonia (elbow/triceps) should be able to play and OT Ryan Tucker (ankle) will also be able to resume his role in the starting lineup.

The Post Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz said Tuesday it looks like LB Dustin Cohen (bone bruise) may not be back this season. Backup CB Jerametrius Butler (high ankle sprain) practiced Tuesday even though he was not expected to. OL Ryan Tucker (ankle) seems to be OK and he should be able to play this weekend. Backup S Rich Coady (ankle) went to see a doctor, again. The team is trying to get him ready for this weekend's playoff game.

The Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams backup S Rich Coady (ankle) and backup LB Dustin Cohen (bruised knee) will both miss Sunday's season finale. A recent MRI showed Coady has a ligament tear. He did not practice Wednesday. Cohen worked out during the first half of practice Wednesday. The team may look to fill the 53rd spot on their roster after Sunday when it won't affect this year's salary cap.

St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz said LB Dustin Cohen (knee) is making progress but probably won't play this weekend. The team would prefer to sit him this week to give him two more weeks of rest before returning for the playoffs. S Rich Coady (ankle) had an infection in his ankle, which set him back. He could be back this weekend, but Martz didn't sound optimistic.

The Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams SS Adam Archuleta (ankle) practiced Friday and he is expected to start Sunday, barring any setbacks. Starting FS Kim Herring (hip pointer) is OK and ready to play Sunday. Starting CB Aeneas Williams (neck) is ready to start and LG Tom Nutten (ankle) said he is ready to play. Starting FB James Hodgins (leg) returned to practice Friday after sitting out Thursday. Backup LB Dustin Cohen (knee) is OUT as is DE Leonard Little (knee). Little said he will start practicing again next week with the hope of playing Dec. 17 at New Orleans.

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports for the Sporting News, that St. Louis Rams LB Brian Allen (hamstring) missed the Tampa Bay game but could be healthy enough to return against San Francisco and help out on special teams. LB Dustin Cohen (knee) is also expected to return Sunday after missing the past three games with a bruised knee.

Contrary to an earlier report the Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams WR Az-Zahir Hakim (ankle) did not practice today and coach Mike Martz said he and S Adam Archuleta (ankle) may have to sit out Monday's game. Backup LB Dustin Cohen (knee) also missed practice and he remains questionable for Monday night. Starting LG Tom Nutten (ankle) returned to practice and Martz said although Nutten may not start, he should play. Starting LB Mark Fields (ankle) also practiced Friday and he is expected to be fine for Monday night.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams S Adam Archuleta (ankle) is doubtful for this weekend's game and LB Dustin Cohen (bruised knee) may miss his second straight game. RB Marshall Faulk (knee), LBs Mark Fields (ankle) and Brian Allen (hamstring), TE Ernie Conwell (shoulder), WR Az-Zahir Hakim (ankle), OG Tom Nutten (ankle) and CB Jacoby Shepherd (quad) are all probable but banged up. Most of the players were held out of Wednesday's practice, but Nutten tried to participate in some drills. The team has Thursday off.

R. B. Fallstrom reports for the Associated Press St. Louis Rams starting G Tom Nutten (high ankle sprain) may miss this week's game. Cameron Spikes or Frank Garcia will fill in for Nutten in practice on Wednesday. Special teams player Dustin Cohen might be out a week or two with a bruised tendon behind his knee. S Kim Herring (concussion) was feeling fine today and TE Ernie Conwell has a minor Achilles' strain.

The Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams starting LG Tom Nutten suffered a left ankle sprain in the first half of today's game. He was replaced by Frank Garcia the rest of the game. Coach Mike Martz said Nutten had another high ankle sprain. LB Dustin Cohen also left late in the second quarter because of knee tendinitis. The Rams had several assorted bumps and bruises, none of which are considered serious. As previously reported S Kim Herring left with a mild concussion and DE Leonard Little suffered a "stinger." DB Jacoby Shepherd has a hip flexor injury.

WR Darrius Blevins, LB Dustin Cohen, FB James Hodgins, DT Gaylon Hyder, and G Pete Swanson all signed one-year contracts. No financial terms were announced but they likely signed for the offers they were tendered by the team.
