Brewers | Chris Carter sitting vs. Arizona

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 13:59:57 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 25. C Jonathan Lucroy is starting at first base and batting fourth, and C Martin Maldonado is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Arizona Dimaondbacks SP Braden Shipley Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Carter is struggling in July with a .167/.282/.417 slash line, but eight of his 10 hits have gone for extra bases, which highlights his upside and fantasy relevance. With 22 home runs and 55 RBI for the season, he should be owned in all seasonal leagues. Lucroy is a top-tier backstop in all fantasy formats, and playing first base Monday could be an opportunity to showcase his flexibility and increase his trade value. Maldonado is a fantasy afterthought.

Mets | Mets eyeing Jonthan Lucroy?

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 19:36:49 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is drawing interest from the New York Mets, according to sources. A trade package could involve C Travis d'Arnaud, but no deal is imminent, sources said.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy will remain one of the top fantasy catchers wherever he plays, but d'Arnaud's power could benefit from home games in Miller Park.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy sitting vs. Pirates

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 12:58:28 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 21. C Martin Maldonado is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy is having a banner season with 44 runs, 12 home runs, 48 RBI, five stolen bases and a .305/.362/.492 slash line. Sub him out where you can in seasonal leagues and continue to view the backstop as a slam-dunk starter in all formats. He's also likely to receive a fantasy boost with a trade to a contender probable. Maldonado owns a .580 OPS over the past two seasons and is nothing more than a desperation flier in daily contests Thursday. However, he should see an uptick in playing time if Lucroy is traded, which would make Maldonado a low-end option in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only settings.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy drives in three

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 21:21:56 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy went 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy doesn't appear to be distracted by the ongoing trade rumors, having hit safely in all five games since the All-Star break with six RBI. He's among the elite fantasy backstops out there, and Lucroy could see his value spike if the All-Star is moved to a more potent lineup.

Indians | Cleveland now after Jonathan Lucroy?

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 14:23:39 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is involved in negotiations to be acquired by the Cleveland Indians, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cleveland recently denied interest in Lucroy, and trade rumors fly rampant this time over year. Still, relocating to one of the best teams in the American League wouldn't hurt Lucroy's fantasy value. Expect the backstop to be moved before the deadline, so stay tuned for updates.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal quieting catcher concerns

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 11:26:14 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal has five home runs and a 1.270 OPS in July, which has limited the interest of looking outside the organization for a catcher. Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy was of some interest to Los Angeles earlier in the season, but it has waned with Grandal's recent production.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal's a rising fantasy commodity after a slow start to the season, and he is a viable starter in all formats while playing well. Lucroy owners can expect the backstop to be traded, but it likely won't be to the Dodgers.

Braves | ATL may try for Jonathan Lucroy

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 00:09:45 -0700

The Atlanta Braves may talk with the Milwaukee Brewers about a trade for C Jonathan Lucroy. Sources indicate the Braves want a catcher via trade that would serve as their starter in 2017.

Fantasy Tip: As it stands now, A.J. Pierzynski and Anthony Recker are the two catchers until Tyler Flowers (hand) returns in September, if he does. Lucroy likely wouldn't lose a step if traded to Atlanta, so it would be safe to leave him active.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy is one of the best fantasy catchers, and he deserves a long look in DFS games when he is facing Cincinnati.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy has two hits

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 15:21:21 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy had two hits, including an RBI single, in a 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy has been one of the bright spots for an otherwise dismal Brewers squad. With a .304 batting average and .491 slugging percentage, Lucroy will also be among the trade bait the Brewers have prior to the deadline.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy, Hernan Perez sitting

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 09:32:30 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy and 3B Hernan Perez are not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Saturday, July 9. 3B Will Middlebrooks will start at third base and is batting sixth, while C Martin Maldonado will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Middlebrooks has gone 1-for-5 since being recalled from the minor leagues and should be avoided in all leagues. Maldonado is only hitting .161 this season and is not a great fantasy option.
