Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick will make the spot start Wednesday, May 16, in place of SP Vance Worley (elbow), who is dealing with elbow soreness. It's unclear if Worley will land on the disabled list. P Joe Savery could be added to the roster if Worley lands on the DL.

P Kyle Kendrick is expected to move from the starting rotation to the bullpen when Lee returns.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick made the start in place of the injured SP Cliff Lee (oblique) Monday, April 23, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was pounded for 11 hits and seven runs while failing to make it out of the fourth inning. In three career starts against Arizona, Kendrick is 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA. The Diamondbacks have hit .433 (29-for-67) during that stretch.

Phillies | Cliff Lee hits 15-day DL

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed SP Cliff Lee (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain. He apparently suffered the injury on a pitch during the 10th inning of his 10-frame outing Wednesday, April 18. GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said that Lee could be out the minimum time but the team wasn't sure yet.

Fantasy Tip: Stash Lee everywhere. Kyle Kendrick is expected to start in his place Monday. He's worth ownership in NL-only setups but will be a frustrating commodity because of his lack of dominance and reliance on his control and supporting defense.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick allowed three hits in three scoreless innings in a Grapefruit League appearance against the New York Yankees Sunday, March 11. "I love starting, but if it's the seventh, eighth - if it's starting, whatever they ask you take the ball," Kendrick said. "I just go out there and try to get better. Do my business every day. They're going to make those decisions. It's up to them." Kendrick is competing for a rotation spot, but is unlikely to crack the staff unless an injury occurs or SP Joe Blanton is dealt.

Philadelphia Phillies RP Kyle Kendrick allowed just one hit with no walks and two strikeouts in two scoreless innings in Grapefruit League action against the Toronto Blue Jays. Currently there is no room in the rotation, but that might change if the team trades SP Joe Blanton before the end of spring training. Right now Kendrick is projected for a role in the bullpen.

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed RP Kyle Kendrick to a two-year contract worth $7.5 million. The deal replaces the one-year, $3.585 million contract he signed earlier in the offseason. Kendrick will have one remaining arbitration year in 2014.
