Mon, 25 Mar 2013 13:31:17 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick continued to work on his slider after allowing five runs and six hits (three home runs) in a minor league game Monday, March 25. He struck out eight and walked just one. "This is the best I've ever felt where I'm at with everything," Kendrick said. "I feel very comfortable with my stuff and who I am as a pitcher. I'm excited to get going, that's for sure." Fantasy Tip: Kendrick could be in line for a nice growth season. It appears he's become more of a pitcher instead of a thrower and is an intriguing end-game gamble in mixed universes.
Tue, 19 Mar 2013 14:23:33 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick's curveball proved effective again Tuesday, March 19, after he got through six innings in only 68 pitches. "It's a good out pitch for me," Kendrick said. "It looks so much like my sinker. It has come a long way." Fantasy Tip: Kendrick's August rejuvenation last year gives optimism for his 2013 season, in which he's set in a rotation spot. He's become more of a complete pitcher and isn't on a lot of folk's radars for fantasy baseball rotations.
Thu, 21 Feb 2013 11:42:38 -0800 Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick will be the team's fourth starter this year after throwing 63 impressive innings over the last 48 days of the season in 2012. The Phils are entrusting more responsibility upon Kendrick because they think he has grown as a pitcher. Kendrick raised his strikeouts late last year and his changeup became an out pitch. "I got confidence from my manager and my pitching coach," Kendrick said. "Not that I didn't have it before, but maybe I didn't know it. I had confidence from them. I had confidence from my teammates. I was confident in myself." Pitching coach Rich Dubee said Kendrick struggled initially upon his entrance to the majors because he didn't have the time to develop a full arsenal of pitches.
Tue, 19 Feb 2013 21:32:28 -0800 Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick used to be plucked from the bullpen and plugged into the starting rotation if injuries struck, but now he is cemented as the team's fourth starter. Pitching coach Rich Dubee will use spring training to formulate his depth chart and find the next potential replacement if trouble strikes. The team signed veteran Ps Aaron Cook and Rodrigo Lopez to minor-league deals, and they represent the sort of Triple-A depth a team requires. Ps Tyler Cloyd, Ethan Martin, Adam Morgan and Jonathan Pettibone might also get a chance to move up the depth chart.
