Kevin Lynch, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports the San Francisco 49ers are expected to employ two-tight end sets more often in 2006. Rookie TE Vernon Davis will be paired with TE Eric Johnson in what could be an oft-used formation. Johnson missed all of last season after tearing his plantar fascia in his right foot in September. The prevalence of a two-back offense will depend on how new FB Moran Norris fares and how much the 49ers use their "F-back," a hybrid fullback/tight end position. Davis will play some F-back as will last year's starting fullback, FB Chris Hetherington, and rookie RB Michael Robinson.

"Not everybody's your biggest fan and not everybody's going to like your playing style," said Hetherington. "But I've been in this league long enough to know I can't please everybody. "I've been the starter here the last seven years," Beasley said. "I don't think it's a question of if I can play this game. It's a question, did I play the game the way they wanted me to play it? It's a frustrating year for everybody. I think I can be honest and say, the relationship between me and Bishop had a lot to do with my play."
