Nationals | Ben Revere out of the lineup

Wed, 25 May 2016 08:39:10 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 25, with OF Michael Taylor leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is hitting just .190 on the season and .241 against left-handers. He's facing a formidable one in Steven Matz. Taylor has upside today at leadoff, but it's only at the right price in DFS.

Nationals | Ben Revere smacks fifth career HR

Tue, 24 May 2016 20:20:59 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season and the fifth of his career Tuesday, May 24, against the New York Mets. He finished with two runs scored, one RBI and one double, and he also drew a walk.

Fantasy Tip: Owners never even think about power when drafting Revere, so it's always a special occasion when Washington's speedy leadoff man goes yard. He's been struggling this year after coming back from injury but hopefully tonight's solid performance can get him going. He's still a few batting average points below the Mendoza Line at .194.

Nationals | Ben Revere has strong day

Sun, 22 May 2016 13:44:22 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere had three hits, two runs, two RBIs and his first two stolen bases of the year in an 8-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday, May 22. Revere now has a .185 batting average.

Fantasy Tip: Keep in mind Revere has only played in 15 games this season between a stint on the disabled list. His bat may be finally warming up. Give it a couple more games to see if that is the case before you invest a roster spot in daily or annual leagues.

Nationals | Michael Taylor leading off vs. the Fish

Fri, 20 May 2016 13:32:28 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is playing center field and leading off against Miami Marlins SP Justin Nicolino Friday, May 20. OF Ben Revere is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor projects to see regular playing time in center field against left-handed pitchers, but he owns an underwhelming career .244/.299/.393 slash line against southpaws. Taylor also failed to take advantage of and push for more playing after Revere's early-season injury. View Taylor as a potential low-priced flier in daily contests Friday, but he is nothing more than a depth option in deep mixed and NL-only formats at this point. Revere is worth owning in all formats because of his speed. He's averaged 35 stolen bases per year since 2011, after all.

Sat, 14 May 2016 09:17:25 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere is not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Justin Nicolino Saturday, May 14. OF Michael Taylor will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is hitting .192 with zero home runs in 26 at-bats this month and probably is not a great option for most fantasy owners.

Nationals | Jayson Werth out of the lineup

Mon, 09 May 2016 12:52:35 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez Monday, May 9. OF Ben Revere will start in left field, while OF Michael Taylor will start in center field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is hitting only .150 over the last seven days and has only one RBI in the last 13 games. Owners probably can avoid Taylor in daily fantasy leagues and find better options to use.

Nationals | Ben Revere hitless in return

Fri, 06 May 2016 17:02:26 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere went 0-for-5 in his return from the disabled list Friday, May 6, against the Chicago Cubs. He had been out since the season opener with a strained right oblique.

Fantasy Tip: Give Revere a pass in his first game back. The leadoff specialist and speedster hit .306/.342/.377 with 31 stolen bases with the Phillies and Blue Jays last year. He's an excellent source of steals and runs atop this potent offense. Just make sure to temper your expectations for a bit as he shakes off some rust. His return limits the playing time of Michael Taylor, who had been starting regularly in center field.

Nationals | Ben Revere leading off

Fri, 06 May 2016 09:17:09 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) is leading off Friday, May 6, fresh off of the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Revere only has two at-bats on the year. It's probably best to hold off in DFS against John Lackey, but re-insert him into traditional lineups for his steals potential.

Nationals | Ben Revere activated from DL

Fri, 06 May 2016 08:27:01 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 6. OF Matt den Dekker was optioned to Class AAA Syracuse to make room.

Fantasy Tip: Revere figures to send Michael Taylor back to the bench. Taylor could still play two or three times a week, though, with Jayson Werth aging and requiring off days. Taylor is probably only worth holding onto in NL-only leagues, though. Revere should return to all lineups as he's one of the best steals sources in baseball.

Nationals | Ben Revere returning Friday?

Thu, 05 May 2016 15:03:27 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) will go through a fullwork out before being activated from the disabled list, which should happen Friday, May 6, if all goes well.

Fantasy Tip: Revere warrants ownership in all formats because of his ability to contribute in runs, stolen bases and batting average, especially since he leads off for a solid offense. Michael Taylor projects to lose the most at-bats with Revere returning, but in deep mixed leagues, Taylor likely should be held onto until the playing time shakes itself out.
