Nationals | Ben Revere to return next week?

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 19:11:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) could be activated from the disabled list during next week's series against the Chicago Cubs, which begins May 5.

Fantasy Tip: Revere should be owned in all formats because of his ability to contribute in runs, stolen bases and batting average, while hitting atop one of the better lineups in the National League. OF Michael Taylor would see the biggest decrease in playing time and fantasy value once Revere returns.

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 12:40:52 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) is beginning a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Revere should be owned in all fantasy formats because he is a plus contributor in runs, stolen bases and batting average, and hitting atop the Washington lineup is a nice bonus. Nationals | Ben Revere hitting, running

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 16:15:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) took batting practice for the first time Tuesday, April 26, and also ran from first base without feeling any pain. He'll go on a rehab assignment if things continue to go well and should return sometime in May. It's unlikely that he'll be back by May 3, though.

Fantasy Tip: Keep Revere stashed everywhere for his speed and ability to score plenty of runs while hitting atop a potent Nationals lineup. Until Revere returns, Michael Taylor has short-term value in most leagues because of his power/speed combination.

Nationals | Ben Revere doing baseball activities

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 15:37:37 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) has started running and taking light swings, his first baseball activities since he strained his right oblique on opening day. Revere said he felt good after working out Wednesday, April 20. He's initially swinging right-handed because doctors think it's safer to take swings from the side his oblique strain is on. Revere hopes to hit off a tee in a few days.

Fantasy Tip: It's progress for Revere, but the Nats are playing it safe with him early in the season, and he could be out for another couple of weeks. Nationals | Ben Revere has no timetable

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 16:09:54 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) has no timetable for a return despite making the road trip with the Nationals this weekend, according to manager Dusty Baker.

Fantasy Tip: Oblique injuries are tricky for all players, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Nats err on the side of caution with Revere so early in the season. He'll have plenty of value hitting atop a dangerous Washington lineup, so keep him stashed everywhere, mainly for his speed and run-scoring opportunities. Michael Taylor will continue to hit leadoff and play center, and his power-speed combination should play well in the short term everywhere.

Nationals | Ben Revere placed on disabled list

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (oblique) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain Wednesday, April 6. The transaction is retroactive to Tuesday, April 5.

Fantasy Tip: With Revere sidelined, Michael Taylor receives a tremendous boost in opportunity. Taylor warrants attention in all seasonal leagues, as he projects to bring his power-speed combo to the top of a potent Washington lineup. There is plenty of fantasy upside, but Taylor also posted a .229/.283/.344 slash line through 121 starts in 2015.

Nationals | Ben Revere day-to-day

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 17:03:54 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (rib cage) tweaked his rib cage on opening day Monday, April 4, and he's listed as day-to-day. Manager Dusty Baker doesn't think Revere's injury is serious.

Fantasy Tip: The Nats may choose to play it cautious early in the season with Revere, but he shouldn't miss many games, if any at all. You may want to sit him for a few games as a result. Michael Taylor has an intriguing mix of power and speed, but without consistent playing time, he's more of an NL-only guy for now.

Nationals | Ben Revere exits early

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 14:32:27 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (undisclosed) was replaced by OF Michael Taylor during the game against the Atlanta Braves Monday, April 4.

Fantasy Tip: Expect an explanation for the premature exit sooner than later, and in the meantime, there is no reason to make any hasty roster decisions with Revere. However, a speculative add of Taylor isn't out of the question. He is only regular playing time away from being a potential starting option in mixed leagues. Stay tuned for updates.
