Cincinnati Reds C Devin Mesoraco (concussion) is exploring the possibility of making changes to his mask to reduce the odds of having another concussion. He strongly favors the two-piece catching mask and helmet over the hockey goalie-style mask.
Fantasy Tip: The Reds entered spring training with the hopes of giving Mesoraco 135 to 140 games behind the plate this year, according to manager Bryan Price. If he can prove that he is fully recovered from his second career concussion, he should be one of the top five catchers drafted in universal fantasy leagues.

Cincinnati Reds C Devin Mesoraco (concussion) has been making progress since suffering a concussion on a foul tip Saturday, March 7. He has already resumed baseball activities. "Devin will increase our baseball activity as well," manager Bryan Price said Wednesday, March 11. "He's already in the cage hitting. He'll go out there and throw."
Fantasy Tip: Mesoraco is a rising fantasy star thanks to his strong average and good power numbers. He could emerge as a Top 10 fantasy option at his position, if he hasnít already reached that level.

Cincinnati Reds C Devin Mesoraco (concussion) is out indefinitely due to a mild concussion that he suffered with a foul ball hit his mask Saturday, March 7. Mesoraco is being tested daily and has been restricted to riding a stationary bike and walking on a treadmill. It is Mesoraco's third concussion as a professional, but he said this one isn't as bad as the others. It's unknown when he'll return to full activities.
Fantasy Tip: Mesoraco is a rising star at the catching position for fantasy baseball owners. He hits plenty of line drives and is unlikely to see a big drop in batting average or his power production. He has plenty of time to be ready for the start of the season, but you'll need to keep track of his progress, as concussions can often linger, depending on the player.

Cincinnati Reds C Devin Mesoraco could receive around 145 starts at catcher this season, because manager Bryan Price does not think the team will use him at first base. "I anticipate Mesoraco catching a lot more games this year, especially if he stays healthy. We won't pair Pena with Cueto as much. Devin did a real nice job with Johnny the times he caught him," Price said.
