St. Louis Cardinals OF Jason Heyward is expected to bat second this season, although manager Mike Matheny has not officially confirmed it.
Fantasy Tip: Batting second makes sense for Heyward and the Cards, and after all, it is where he spent the most time during his five seasons with the Atlanta Braves. The 25-year-old Heyward already has 2819 plate appearances in the majors, and a couple solid fantasy seasons under his belt. Relocating to a better line and entering his prime, there is a lot to like about Heyward heading into the 2015 season. Landing him in the early middle rounds as your No. 2 outfielder would be a solid start at the position.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Jason Heyward said he felt his approach while hitting leadoff for much of 2014 limited his power potential. Manager Mike Matheny said he has no plans to hit Heyward leadoff. Matheny likened Heyward's spot in the lineup to New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran's, saying that Beltran hit second in the lineup but had the approach of a No. 3 hitter. Heyward could hit anywhere from No. 2 to No. 6, and Matheny suggests he should just establish a steady approach, regardless of spot.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward is in a contract year, and the team feels he has a lot of "untapped potential." The signs are there for a big season in '15, and he'd make a brilliant second outfielder in mixed leagues.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Jason Heyward hasn't been mentioned in a platoon in right field, even though he's hit just .210 with a .293 on-base percentage and .325 slugging percentage against left-handed pitchers in 283 plate appearances in the last two seasons. The Cardinals think he can turns things around and be successful against lefties. OFs Randal Grichuk and Peter Bourjos will likely have to wait their turn for playing time, since OF Jon Jay has been very successful against left-handers in his career.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward presents an excellent buying opportunity in fantasy drafts this year, especially since he's moving to a much better lineup in St. Louis. The fact that he won't be in a platoon situation makes him an even better purchase. Grichuk is likely to see more playing time than Bourjos this year if Jay or Heyward falter, but he's probably not worth anything more than a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues.
