San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner has never pitched on short rest in his career. He can start in Game 5 of the World Series Sunday, Oct. 26, if necessary, and then could be brought back to work out of the bullpen in Game 7 if need be.

San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner took a shutout into the seventh inning of Game 1 of the World Series Tuesday, Oct. 21, to beat the Kansas City Royals. He improved to 3-0 in the World Series and extended his scoreless streak to 21 innings before C Salvador Perez homered in the seventh inning. Bumgarner gave up three hits while striking out five and walking one.

San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner was named the Most Valuable Player for the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. He threw eight innings in Game 5 after pitching shutout baseball in the Game 1 win at St. Louis. Bumgarner allowed two home runs in Game 5 but then retired the final 13 hitters he faced to wind up with a no-decision.
