Thu, 09 May 2013 12:14:58 -0700 Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin said SP Jarrod Parker (neck) is in line to start Saturday, May 11. Fantasy Tip: Parker has been getting hit pretty hard lately. The addition of his neck ailment doesn't inspire much confidence in starting him in deep mixed leagues at this time. There are better options out there on the waiver wire, too.
Tue, 07 May 2013 14:15:00 -0700 Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin doesn't think SP Jarrod Parker (neck) will have to miss a start after discussing the injury with team trainers. Fantasy Tip: Regardless, if you owner Parker in a mixed leagues, you should either consider cutting him or benching him for his next few starts.
Tue, 07 May 2013 13:49:13 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray would be the likely choice to take a rotation spot if SP Jarrod Parker (neck) has to go on the disabled list. Parker has given the indication that he thinks it'll probably be best if he at least misses a short amount of time. Gray's velocity has been up at Triple-A Sacramento, and he's 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA and hitters are batting .241 against him. Fantasy Tip: This is the perfect time for the A's to disable Parker, let him get healthy and work on what has caused him to leave the ball up in the zone so far this year. Since it's unknown how long Parker might be out right now, Gray should only be acquired in AL leagues by owners that need rotation help.
Tue, 07 May 2013 13:36:23 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker (neck) will try to throw Wednesday, May 8, to determine the severity of his neck injury.
Tue, 07 May 2013 06:20:53 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker (neck) left the game Monday, May 6, with a neck strain. Parker said the issue has bothered him on and off this season and he has had treatment for it. He believes it might have contributed to him leaving some balls up in the zone and also to a dip in velocity because he isn't getting his usual extension in his delivery. It sounds as if there is some chance he might be shut down to deal with the problem for at least a short time. Fantasy Tip: With the way he has been tattooed this season, one has to wonder if he strained his neck turning and watching balls fly out of the park. It's good news that he has been so awful for a reason. Expect a DL stint to get him right. Drop him for now, but keep him in mind later in the season.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 14:45:31 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker threw 6 1/3 innings Saturday, April 20, while rediscovering the sink on his fastball and effectiveness of his changeup. He recorded eight ground-ball outs and five strikeouts but took the hard-luck loss. Fantasy Tip: Parker endured a rough spring and three-start stretch to start the season. His stuff is dangerous when it's working. The righty's potentially elite strikeout-grounder combo should be owned in deep formats.
Mon, 08 Apr 2013 23:57:18 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker, who pitches against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday, April 9, limited the Angels to eight runs in 27 2/3 innings last year (2.60 ERA). He didn't allow a home run in those four starts.
Thu, 21 Feb 2013 10:41:46 -0800 Oakland Athletics SPs Brett Anderson, Jarrod Parker, Tommy Milone, A.J. Griffin and Dan Straily are expected to round out the rotation to start the season with SP Bartolo Colon suspended. Colon will likely take Straily's spot when he returns. SPs Jesse Chavez will start the Cactus League opener Saturday, Feb. 23, followed by Ps Travis Blackley and Andrew Werner.
Sat, 06 Oct 2012 23:54:53 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP A.J. Griffin may start Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the Detroit Tigers, but the team may also bring SP Jarrod Parker back on short rest.
Sat, 06 Oct 2012 21:16:55 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker allowed three runs - two earned - and seven hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss Saturday, Oct. 6, in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. He struck out five batters in the 96-pitch quality start, his first career postseason appearance.
