Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker (elbow) will undergo his second Tommy John surgery March 25, and he'll likely miss the rest of the season.
Fantasy Tip: You can obviously drop Parker if you drafted him already. Tommy Milone's value just jumped significantly in AL-only leagues. Milone might not be a bad idea in deep mixed leagues for rotation depth, either.

Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin acknowledged that SPs Jarrod Parker (forearm) and A.J. Griffin (elbow) are in jeopardy of starting the season on the disabled list. SP Jesse Chavez is expected to claim one of the rotation spots, and SP Tommy Milone is also likely to be in the starting five in April.
Fantasy Tip: Avoiding Parker and Griffin in your drafts might be the smart thing to do right now, until we know more about their injuries. Chavez and Milone are flier picks in cavernous mixed leagues and AL drafts.

Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker (forearm) is dealing with forearm tightness and will visit with Dr. James Andrew Monday, March 17.
Fantasy Tip: It's never a good thing when a pitcher goes to see Andrews about forearm or elbow problems. Keep tabs on how the visit goes. If Parker's issue is serious, there's a good bet Tommy Milone or Jesse Chavez will take his rotation spot.

Oakland Athletics SP Jarrod Parker retired 12 of the final 13 batters he faced on Monday, March 10, in his third start of the Cactus League. He surrendered four runs on a pair of gopher balls in the first inning, however, and wasn't pleased with his approach. "From hitter one, I need to be aggressive and have a good mentality." He yielded four hits and a walk, with five strikeouts, in all. Parker's spring ERA is 10.61.
The right-hander appears to be on schedule to start the club's opening day contest on March 31.
Fantasy Tip: Parker has top-grade talent but hasn't quite put it all together yet. He seems to expect a lot of himself and is conscious of where he can improve, so that bodes well. He could take that major step forward at any time -- fantasy owners prefer to see it come about in that K/9, especially -- and so he remains a tantalizing mid-round choice.
