Tue, 21 May 2013 14:52:36 -0700 Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said 3B Josh Vitters is still a priority for the team in the future. Vitters is batting .259 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 54 at-bats with Triple-A Iowa this year. Sveum said Vitters "has got power, can hit a fastball… but there's a lot of development left in him." 3B Ian Stewart is playing behind Vitters at Iowa.
Fantasy Tip: Based on that, it doesn't sound like the Cubs are rushing to call up Vitters, especially if Luis Valbuena keeps playing the way he is. It's even worse news for Stewart, who probably won't be with the team past this season. Vitters would be an immediate option for NL-only teams were he to be called up, but there's no telling when that might happen.

It was his first game action since Feb. 21. "I got to test (my leg) on the first ball I hit, I hit a grounder to shortstop," Vitters said. "It's kind of good that I had a couple of ground balls and got to test it out. I didn't push it to 100 percent, but I picked it up pretty close."
