Yankees | Mark Teixeira out Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 13:57:24 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (knee) is not in the lineup Sunday, July 17, against Boston Red Sox SP David Price. 1B Rob Refsnyder will take Teixeira's place and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Teixeira has some knee issues that primarily revolve around soreness, so all he should need is rest. Refsnyder has six hits in his last seven games and should be a decent player for DFS leagues.

Yankees | Brian McCann sitting Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 13:48:17 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann will not start Sunday, July 17, against Boston Red Sox SP David Price. C Austin Romine is batting ninth in McCann's place.

Fantasy Tip: McCann earns the night off with lefty Price on the hill. Romine (.265-3-16) is a decent low-cost alternative in DFS leagues, as Romine has had a decent year in his own right.

Red Sox | David Price finishes first half in style

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 14:59:29 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price stuck it to the team that drafted him first overall in 2007 on Sunday, July 10, allowing four singles and walking one while striking out 10 over eight scoreless innings versus the Tampa Bay Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Price also fanned 10 Rays two starts ago, but took the loss after surrendering four runs across 6 1/3 innings in that one. The 2012 Cy Young Award winner with Tampa Bay has posted exactly 10 strikeouts in each of his last three starts and 10 or more in four of his last six, although his 16 homers allowed are one shy of last year's mark. Price will have the break to reflect on his 9-6 record, 4.34 ERA and AL-best 140 strikeouts, and is slated to start next Sunday against the New York Yankees.

Red Sox | David Price pitches well in loss

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 21:01:44 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price scattered eight hits and three runs across eight innings of work against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, July 5. He struck out 10 but fell to 8-6 on the season.

Fantasy Tip: Price has now dropped five of his last six decisions, and for at least the fourth time during that stretch he pitched well enough to win. Over his last seven starts, Price has a 3.96 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP; and minus his terrible 6/24 outing against the Rangers those ratios fall to 2.98 and 1.04. The problem has been run support, as the BoSox have managed just 2.4 runs per game in Price's past seven starts. Despite some struggles, Price should remain in your active lineup.

Red Sox | Texas has David Price's number

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 15:19:42 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price has a career 5.78 ERA against the Texas Rangers, which is his highest ERA against any club he has pitched at least 30 innings against. Price is facing Texas Tuesday, July 5.

Fantasy Tip: Price enters the matchup extremely cold, too. He has allowed opposing hitters to post a 1.164 OPS while surrendering 10 runs through 8 2/3 innings over his past two starts. He's capable of spinning a gem any night against any opponent, but it also isn't out of the question to fade him Tuesday. He's a high-risk, high-reward hurler until he proves otherwise with another string of solid outings.

Red Sox | David Price defeated at The Trop

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 15:38:32 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price saw his record fall to 8-5 after losing Wednesday, June 29, opposite the Tampa Bay Rays. The southpaw worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk, including a home run. He also struck out 10 batters.

Fantasy Tip: Price's wildly inconsistent first season with the Red Sox continues. This was actually his third start back at Tropicana Field since being dealt by the Rays two years ago, and with good results collectively in the first two such outings, it was reasonable to think Price would churn out a gem this afternoon. Instead, other than the strikeouts, he offered up a clunker. Still, owners will just have to accept whatever Price gives them. He should be better in the second half, at least.

Red Sox | David Price hit hard by Rangers

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 22:35:17 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price gave up six runs on 12 hits in just 2 1/3 innings against the Texas Rangers on Friday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: After eight consecutive quality starts, Price just didn't have it on Friday night, struggling from the get go in Texas. It's a setback for Price, whose ERA had dropped to 4.24 from 6.75 during the preceding eight-game stretch, but for now we'll chalk it up as an anomaly. Make sure Price is active for his next start.

Red Sox | David Price sharp in win

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 16:19:54 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price allowed one run on eight hits while striking out seven in a win over the Seattle Mariners Sunday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: Price continues to rebound from an awful start, and you should be able to rely on him as a fantasy ace the rest of the way.

Red Sox | David Price fans 11 in loss

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 20:05:43 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price allowed three earned runs, five hits and no walks with 11 strikeouts over eight innings in a loss Tuesday, June 14, against the Baltimore Orioles. He threw 75 of his 105 pitches for strikes.

Fantasy Tip: Price has 34 strikeouts over his past four starts at Fenway Park. He hasn't won in five starts dating back to May 24, but he remains a top-notch fantasy option in all formats. Price has thrown seven or more innings in three straight outings, and five of his past six starts.

Red Sox | David Price drops second straight

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 23:28:12 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price allowed just three hits in eight innings against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, June 8, but two of them were solo home runs. Boston lost, 2-1.

Fantasy Tip: That's back-to-back hard-luck losses for Price, who now sits at 7-3 on the year after the normally potent BoSox lineup gave him only one run to work with. On the positive side, it was the lefty's sixth straight quality start and first complete game since June 12, 2015. Price seems to have put his early-season struggles behind him and is once again a must-start in all leagues.
