Yankees | Brian McCann not starting Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 16:04:31 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann will not start the Sunday, May 1, game against the Boston Red Sox. C Austin Romine is starting and hitting ninth against Red Sox SP David Price.

Fantasy Tip: It's a classic case of lefty vs. lefty, so McCann will sit despite a .345 batting average. Romine has just one at-bat against Price, so sit him against the Red Sox. He is untested in terms of fantasy value.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius out Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 16:01:42 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not starting Sunday, May 1, against the Boston Red Sox. SS Ronald Torreyes is in the lineup and will bat eighth against Red Sox SP David Price.

Fantasy Tip: With Price pitching for the Red Sox, Gregorius will take a seat and avoid the lefty vs. lefty matchup. Torreyes has no batting average against Price, so for the moment he has little fantasy value.

Yankees | Carlos Beltran not playing Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 15:56:37 -0700

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran is not in the lineup Sunday, May 1, against the Boston Red Sox. OF Aaron Hicks is batting seventh against Red Sox SP David Price.

Fantasy Tip: Beltran has a .250 batting average for his career against Price, so this appears to be just a normal night off for the veteran. Hicks has a .308 average against Price, but he also struck out six times in 13 at-bats so be a little wary.

Red Sox | David Price rough on Yanks lately

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 22:21:36 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price will face the New York Yankees Sunday, May 1. He is 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA over his past four starts against the Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Based on his recent run of success against the Bronx Bombers he is a worthwhile DFS play, especially if the price is right.

Red Sox | David Price fans 14

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 23:13:39 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price matched a career-high with 14 strikeouts in his win over the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, April 26. He allowed two runs on six hits in eight innings.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a 5.76 ERA, he's now 3-0. April is his worst month historically, and he should start to settle in. He'll be a daily option to consider most days he starts.

Red Sox | David Price starting slow

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 11:17:05 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price has a 7.06 ERA in four starts this year, which ranks 99th among 101 pitchers who have thrown a minimum of 19 innings. He has a 4.14 ERA in 36 starts in March or April in his career and has a 2.96 ERA in every other month. Price continues to throw in the mid-90s, which is an indication he's healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Disrergard Price's slow start. He'll be facing an Atlanta Braves team Tuesday that hasn't homered since April 10. They have a league-low three home runs and also rank 13th in the NL in on-base percentage (.300). Price should be able to turn things around. Start him in all formats.

Red Sox | David Price tagged by Rays

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 16:15:56 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price allowed eight hits (two home runs) and eight earned runs while walking two and striking out five in just 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, April 21. The eight runs allowed was a career high for Price, and he has allowed 17 earned runs in 22 2/3 innings in four starts against the Rays, his former team.

Fantasy Tip: Well that was a letdown for Price owners against the team with the fewest runs scored in baseball entering the day. It's likely a blip on the radar for Price, who is a fantasy starter in all formats. Look for him to bounce back in his next start.

Red Sox | David Price earns no-decision

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 15:34:36 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price picked up a no-decision Monday, April 11, versus the Baltimore Orioles. He went five innings, surrendering five runs on five hits and two walks. He also logged eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: The strikeouts were good, but that's about the only positive to take away from this afternoon's start. At the same time, it wasn't an awful outing, as he didn't kill anybody's WHIP with this performance, and in Price's defense, it was a tough matchup opposite a hard-hitting lineup. He's still one of the elite starters in the American League.

MLB | Boston-Cleveland postponed

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 14:01:13 -0700

The game between the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians Thursday, April 7, has been postponed. Red Sox SP David Price will now pitch the home opener against the Baltimore Orioles Monday, April 11.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to swap out any players from this game where possible, and especially in daily contests. It is a tough break for those in weekly leagues, as they'll lose a start from Price this week. However, the silver lining is Baltimore could be a softer opponent than the Toronto Blue Jays, who Price was originally set to face Sunday, April 10.

Red Sox | David Price fans 10 in win

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 14:54:58 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP David Price struck out 10 on his way to beating the Cleveland Indians Tuesday, April 5. He allowed two runs and five hits in six innings in his Boston debut. Price improved to 10-2 with a 2.24 ERA in 14 starts in his career against the Indians.

Fantasy Tip: This is what we expected from Price in his move to Boston, and he is firmly a fantasy ace in 2016.
