Tigers | David Price stymies the Royals

Sun, 03 May 2015 05:23:06 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price threw a one-run complete game against the Kansas City Royals Saturday, May 2. He allowed just five hits without walking a batter while striking out three.

Fantasy Tip: This is a noteworthy accomplishment for two reasons. First, Price ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) was shelled for eight earned runs, 10 hits and three walks over just 2 1/3 innings against the New York Yankees in his last outing, and the Royals pace the league in runs against left-handed pitchers this season. There may be another hiccup along the way, but Price is one of the rare pitchers who is in consideration for FantasyScore players whenever he takes the mound.

Tigers | David Price bombed by Bombers

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 22:31:01 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price allowed eight earned runs, 10 hits and three walks in just 2 1/3 innings in a loss against the New York Yankees Wednesday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Since the start of last season Price is 1-3 with a 7.59 ERA against the Yankees in six starts over 32 innings. FantasyScore owners need to avoid Price ($8,900; 17.8% of cap) next time he faces the Bronx Bombers.

Yankees | Alex Rodriguez struggles vs. David Price

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:08:09 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez has struck out 17 times in 43 at-bats against Detroit Tigers SP David Price. Price is pitching against the Yankees Wednesday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: With Rodriguez's ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) lack of success against Price, it might not be the best time to utilize him in FantasyScore contests Wednesday, especially with him in a 1-for-13 drought at the dish.

Tigers | David Price dominant Friday

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 15:36:43 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price allowed four hits in eight innings while striking out nine and walking just two in a no-decision against the Chicago White Sox Friday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Price ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) has not allowed a run in 14 1/3 innings to start the 2015 season, and he's fanned 11 hitters. He is a strong FantasyScore option almost every time out, especially with a strong offense backing him.

Tigers | David Price on the hill Friday

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 21:40:44 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price is expected to start against the Chicago White Sox Friday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Price ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) hasn't allowed an earned run through two starts this season, and the White Sox are off to a slow start offensively, hitting .230 as a team and ranking 24th in runs scored. There is potential for a big game from Price, but he isn't a must-start option at FantasyScore at his high price tag on a night when there are plenty of options available.

Tigers | David Price on scoreless streak

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 21:43:39 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price will start Friday, April 17, against the Chicago White Sox. He takes a 21 ⅔ regular season scoreless inning streak into the game. He hasn't allowed a run in his past three regular season starts.

Fantasy Tip: Price has been right lately for FantasyScore owners at $8,900 (or 17.8% of cap). He has also been right at Comerica Park, too, going 7-2 with a 2.89 ERA in 12 career appearances (10 starts), so shell out the big bumps for him Friday.

Tigers | David Price has terrific outing

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 13:12:47 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price pitched 8 2/3 scoreless innings against the Minnesota Twins Monday, April 6, to pick up his first win of the season. Price struck out five batters during the game and did not walk any batters.

Fantasy Tip: Price ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) was one of the top fantasy pitchers entering the season and showed why he was an early-round draft pick. Price should a starting option against most teams on FantasyScore.

Tigers | David Price not close on extension

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 15:14:26 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price is not close to signing a contract extension, and the two sides are "apart", according to sources. Price has said he has an interest in staying in Detroit, and he has suggested he is willing to continue negotiations into the beginning of the season, though.

Fantasy Tip: Price ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) draws an underrated Minnesota Twins lineup on opening day, as Minny socred the seven most runs in baseball last season. Still Price is a lineup building block and worth considering for FantasyScore contests whenever he takes the mound. In seasonal leagues, he is a high-end fantasy ace and has averaged 15 wins and 207 strikeouts with a 3.08 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP over the past five seasons.

Tigers | David Price beginning contract talks?

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 10:04:35 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price and his agent have started contract talks with the team, but no numbers have been discussed at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Price will start on opening day against the Minnesota Twins. Even at a high FantasyScore salary ($8,100, 16.2% of cap), the matchup against the Twins is favorable and one you should look to take advantage of.

Tigers | David Price to start opener

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 07:41:09 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price was named the Opening Day starter Monday, April 6, against the Minnesota Twins.

Fantasy Tip: Price ($8,100; 16.2% of your cap) will have a great matchup on FantasyScore. His velocity declined a bit last year, but he is still one of the best pitchers in fantasy. He's an elite SP1 for the opener.
