Red Sox | David Price close to facing live hitters

Sat, 15 Apr 2017 05:36:05 -0700

Updating previous reports, Boston Red Sox LHP David Price (elbow) is slated to throw two sets of 20-25 pitches during his bullpen session Saturday, April 15, with a short break between sets to simulate rest between innings. He is expected to throw breaking balls off a mound for the first time since injuring his left elbow, after working with the pitch on flat ground recently. If all goes well, manager John Farrell said Price could resume facing live hitters next week. A rehab assignment could follow a handful of simulated games, although Price would probably need at least four appearances in the minors before coming off the disabled list, in order to reach the 90-pitch range.
