Rays | David Price talks in a holding pattern

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 07:13:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP David Price hasn't aggressively been shopped on the trade market, and rival executives say the Rays haven't had a sense of urgency in moving him. Some other executives said they have never received a final or best offer in talks for Price. Rival executives also believe there isn't a market for what the Rays are seeking in a trade for Price. "It's a specialized market," said one executive. "I don't think a lot of teams have the kind of prospects they would require, and on top of that, how many teams can absorb a $20 million-plus salary for next year?"

Angels | David Price not a target

Wed, 16 Jul 2014 11:52:47 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP David Price will not be a target of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in a trade this summer. The Angels know that they don't have the prospect package to pull Price away from the Rays, and general manager Jerry Dipoto doesn't want to trade players from the current major league roster. Owner Arte Moreno would also prefer not to pay baseball's luxury tax.

Rays | David Price OK with trade talks

Tue, 15 Jul 2014 09:04:32 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP David Price has come to grips with the team's financial limitations and his involvement in trade talks as the July 31 deadline approaches. When it comes down to it, though, Price would like to remain with the organization. "Since 2012, (the Rays and I) both understood that for Tampa to continue the kind of success we've had over the past five or six years, this is the way they operate. I would love to stay there and for us to continue to be successful. But I don't know if that's a possibility," Price said. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays all could be interested in trading for Price.

Fantasy Tip: Price is by far the biggest trade target on the market this summer. There remains a pretty good chance he'll be dealt. His value probably won't be changed all that much if he switches unis; he'll remain a must-start pitcher.
