The Chicago Cubs placed RP Shawn Camp (toe) on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right big toe Wednesday, May 22, and recalled RP Rafael Dolis from the minors in a corresponding move.

The Chicago Cubs activated RP Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 10, and optioned RP Rafael Dolis to the minors in a corresponding move. Also RP Kameron Loe refused his minor league assignment and has become a free agent.

Fantasy Tip: Fujikawa won't immediately move back into the closer's role. Dale Sveum announced recently that Kevin Gregg is basically the closer right now thanks to his success closing out games. Fujikawa should be expected to setup alongside Carlos Marmol for the time being, but he could snare some save opps from Gregg if he stumbles. Fujikawa is worth owning in deep mixed leagues.

The Chicago Cubs recalled OF Ryan Sweeney and RP Rafael Dolis from the minors and optioned OF Dave Sappelt and designated RP Kameron Loe for assignment in corresponding moves.

Fantasy Tip: Sweeney will be making his debut with the club, but he'll likely only be used as outfield depth, at least initially. As a result, you should only consider him in deep NL-only formats.

Cubs | Kyuji Fujikawa placed on disabled list

The Chicago Cubs have placed CL Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained muscle in his right forearm. He said through an interpreter that the injury has bothered him for several days and may have contributed to his ineffectiveness Friday, April 12, when he blew a save against the San Francisco Giants. In a corresponding move, the team has recalled RP Rafael Dolis from Triple-A Iowa.

Fantasy Tip: The Cubs will use a closer-by-committee approach in Fujikawa's absence but neither Carlos Marmol nor Rafael Dolis, who was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to take Fujikawa's place on the 25-man roster, will be used to save games. RPs Shawn Camp and James Russell are likely to see the bulk of the closing opportunities.
